If you live in Texas, you've known it for a while. It's amazing Tech put up with that guy as long as they did. There's a reason why he's interviewed for every job opening in the last 5 years and was still in the desert. No reputable program wants to deal with that psycho.

I agree. If a football coach can't cuss his team out, I'm not sure what kind of world we're living in. Isn't that what football coaches do?<div>
</div><div>I'm sure some of Jackie's unrecorded rants were epic.</div>

There is a problem with that......?

Pussies who think there is. He is right regarding his team. It's football with young men. Grow up and get a grip kids.

A little overboard.....sure. But he's correct and it happens everywhere. Hell, our team walks around cocky as hell, which is fine, but they haven't done **** yet.....

The night before the Cotton Bowl in 2009 Leach and the TTech staff was in the lobby of the Hilton in downtown Dallas. Leach was pretty wasted as was the rest of the staff that was drinking with him.

Leach got into it with an assistant coach who had decided to leave for another job earlier in the week. Leach told him "I whipped your <17>ing *** before you came to Texas Tech. I whipped your <17>ing *** while you were here. And I'm going to whip your <17>ing *** when you come back!"

The guy left.

Later Leach went on to say "Sure Grahm Harrell is great, but ya know what, the guy before him was great - and the guy before him was great - and the guy before him was great! It's not Mike Leach getting great quarterbacks, it's Mike Leach making great quarterbacks!"

That happened the night before TTech lost to OM in the Cotton Bowl. Swear to God.

Ok guys,

Looking at the way this thread is going, this may not be what you guys want to hear, but this is EXACTLY what our team needs in the locker room. I mean honestly, have any of you previous posters ever played football? (No response needed, I know you were on ALL on the all state team) FYI, this happens every Friday night at half your local highschools in MS. The real problem as I see it, is we all want to eat the pig, but are scared to see him get slaughtered. You can't have tough, hardnosed football players that try to take heads off at the snap of the ball, and then tell them to stop and pick flowers when the whistle blows. It's the same thing, asking them to run over the man in front of him, but get offended at a couple of "17 you's"!Quit being such bitches, and realize that this is football. Those two videos are obviously after two games that the coachesworkedthese guys up for weeks to win. They didn't work all that time for loses. They expected the best from the team. The team obviously laid anegg.(no research on the games done, but feel free to do so, as I am sure you will) After the game, the coaches got into their asses, and the next game they probably played like the have a pair. (again, research at will)He has a point in the first video. These guys have been getting laid all summer off the success of people who are no longeron the team. It is time for them to pay the piper. That is part of the problem with us. We have a little success, then we celbrate like AIDS was just a bad dream. We need someone who will showour boysthat they have a pair. I for one wish we had someone like Leach on the team for this very reason. Maybe not a head coach, but someone on the team. Sometimes college kids need someone to get into their ***, if you think that these speachesdidn't give a shock to their system, and make them not want to hear it again, you were mixing gatorade for your hichschool team at halftime. I remember my coaches getting into my *** for every play I screwed up. It made me not want to embarass my team again by doing what I did on that play. What most arenot seeingis the next weeks 40 hours of reviewing the video to grade each player on every play to help them correct their problemthe followingweek. There is no video for that! Anyways. I just realized I am ranting, and don't want to be clasified as that guy. My point is, a little passion is not as bad as it is being made out to be.

Oh yeah, welcome to sixpackspeak. The silence has been broken. If the sheep persist as I have seen this past season, I will be outta here in no time!!!

Am I opposed to getting into a players *** when he screws up? nodawgoneway

that first video falls under the category of "what happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room". I would be willing to bet some of the stuff Saban says to his team is equally as bad or worse at times. Heck, weren't there some sheep bleats about Dan cussing at an open practice? It happens, I have accepted that football coaches swear, as do I, and if they do that's their deal and not mine. I don't care.

I don't think that first video proves he's nuts, it just proves that he has a potty mouth.

And when he was talking about "a different living situation" do he think he was referring to Craig James kid and moving him into a closet?

That said, I would not want Mike Leach as a coach not because he cusses, but because I don't think he pays enough attention to defense. With his offense, if he had any defense at all, he would have won the Big 12. He is a typical arrogant OC who happens to be a HC and believes that his offense is so unstoppable, that even if the defense gives up 56, he can score 63. I remember when Gene thought that Ruffin McNeal was going to be our DC, several Texas Tech people mentioned how slow their defense was and how they lacked talent, and yet, I bet Leach had 20 WR's. Some of those players probably could have been moved.

I'd hope our coaches are dropping f-bombs on our team every time we play like **** too. This is nothing compared to Knight's rant that's on the internet.

I understand that a large percentage of coaches drop F-bombs and other profanities on a regular/ continual basis because they think it makes them sound more serious about what they are saying. The "you must not really mean it if you weren't cussing and spitting when you said it" mentality is one approach. However, the best coaches I've played for or been around had more in their arsenal that just spitting and cussing.

So what about the video? Standard locker room post game rant.
If you don't think that JS and JLD did this and more then you are kidding yourself. My son who plays a sport for a private school in the Jackson Metro had a coach that would rip them almost this bad in practice and in games.

Then,I clearly was not talking to you. Hell, my 7 year old has enough attention span to understand if he is in a room when I yellat the dog that I am not talking to him also.

if multiple people agree with something the coach is saying then how in the hell can you say that you are going to type something that we don't want to hear?you were"looking at the way this thread is going" and didn't see that it was going the way a lot of threads go, some people agree and some disagree.

All coaches should yell and chew on their team when the team deserves it. But when you say F and MF every other word.....literally every other word.....then the message gets lost. He sounded like a 15 year old kid.....or someone from the NE US. You can yell and get your point across much better, and still be respected, without the F and MF every other word. Every now and then? Yes. But that rant sounded juvenile.

There's nothing wrong with chewing your team, and cussing happens with emotions. When I watched Leach, though, he actually sounded like a 10 year old kid who had learned a bunch of dirty words and was trying to impress all his friends. I get that coaches need to light a fire and all, but that sounded juvenile and unintelligent. There was nothing motivational, frightening, or intimidating about that. It was just a grown man with a limited vocabulary showing out.
