Mike Slive Pulled A Larry Templeton On Us

I really am disappointed with Mike Slive. As chairman of the selection committee, he sure pulled a Larry Templeton by not standing up for us, and he let them shove it straight up our *** with our seeding, and our playing dates.

All they did was pull a mid major out of the #13 slot, and inserted us in their place. You can't tell me that a 23 win SEC team deserves at a minimum a #10 seed.

Why in the hell are they shipping us all the way out to Portland to play an afternoon game on Thursday? We are literally going from the east coast to the west coast, with little time for recovery from playing 4 days in a row, or the jet lag from crossing 3 times zones. The conference champion of the SEC deserves better than this.

because it gives us the easiest matchup for the 2nd round. Regardless, we were going to play a tough first round opponent. So in that respect, it gives us the easiest 2nd round opponent. If we were an 11 seed, we would have been paired up with a 3. A 10 seed, paired up with a 2. 8 or 9 seed, paired up with a 1.

If we were already dancing then sure we would deserve a higher seed but since we were on the outside of the bubble we have to prove we belong. Honestly I thought we would be a 9 or 10 seed but we are in.

...apparently, there's no appreciable difference in whatever date a team from the east coast plays in the west coast, and that it's something examined all the time.

See USC. Everyone says that they were not in if they had not won the PAC-10 tourney. They are a 10. Slive said that the brackets were pretty much set by lunchtime on Sunday. I think it sucks that a game, like the ACC or Big 10 championships games this year, really doesn't figure into seeding. Tennessee losing affected nothing. Purdue and Duke winning affected nothing. I understand the rush to have things ready for TV at 5:00, but there has to be a better way.

I think we got a good draw. Sure, the location sucks for the fans, and it would have been better if we played on Friday/Sunday, but our team matches up well with Washington. Should be a good game.

I'd be even more pissed if I were a UT fan. Number 9 seed? Hell, if they win their opener...they'll likely play Pitt.

I thought we would get a 10 or 11, UT would get a 7 or 8, and LSU would get a 6 or 7. Pretty shocked when the numbers came out...still would rather have our path than UTs.

I don't understand why the SEC championship has to be played the same day as the selection show. Start the tourney on Wednesday and end on Saturday and you solve a lot of problems re: seeding the teams playing and having to recover and play later in the week.

As to Slive's comments about the field being set by lunchtime, does that mean Tennessee would have still been a 9 if they had won?

ranked in the top 25 for the last couple of weeks, lose to a team with a winning conference record in your tourney, and an 8 seed?

You know something about their opponent I don't? :)

I'd hate the seed too, but I think they have the talent to beat them IF and IF they play like they are capable. Which they have maybe donw what, three times this year?

...how much of this genespage ******** will this board allow between now & Thurs.?

Suddenly it's Miss. State vs. all the conspiracy theorists & liberals.

This is embarrassing.

Nobody conspired to screw over MSU & every TV & radio hack is entitled to their "State will not advance far" opinion.

Please. Enough is enough.

Put it this way: How many 13 seeds who you know nothing about have you ever picked to advance?

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.
