Let me remind the masses. PLEASE do not show any hope or optimism for any reason. Especially when the best shooter in CBB starts the year off with a great game. There’s some incredibly weak men on this board that it bothers a great deal.

but if you want to get “googly eyes” from the biggest troll on the board, carry on.

Is it possible to be balanced. For example, acknowledge he’s an awesome shooter and be excited we have him without declaring he’s the best shooter at UK since Tony Delk when he’s played one game? He certainly can be, and that possibility is absolutely worth being excited about. But that accolade must be earned. This is KENTUCKY.

This was your post:

“Love the excitement but this is so BBN, it’s one game against a terrible team. Slow down. He should have a great year and I’m excited too but not enough to draw any conclusions.”

Why the condescending attitude towards BBN? He’s the best shooter in CBB and got off to a great start. Don’t need anything else to draw my conclusion. I loved Delk. One of my favorite players of all time but there’s plenty of evidence out there that he just may be a better shooter than Delk. Don’t think that’s a real reach. I also don’t think BBN is stupid to be excited to have the best shooter in CBB. Again, it isn’t just one game. He set records last year in a very good conference.

Watch the Big 12 semi final game against AZ last year. Dude is unreal. Zero reasons to try and temper folks excitement for him.

You do realize this is his fourth year playing big-time college basketball, right? It ain’t like folks here are making those statements based on only a one game sample size.

Last year he was the best shooter in the country for a Top 10 team … indeed the same team that pummeled us in tournament. And he’s consistently been a great shooter throughout his entire career. THAT explains why folks are throwing out such superlatives about his shooting far more than just that Manhattan game.

“as well as the projection of great performance against a cupcake into a given future of the complete season that contains many teams that will pose much more difficulty”

I think we have a sufficient sample size of what Milan can do. He set records last year in a very tough conference. Takes zero projection.
What can we possibly be talking about, I read on Rupps rafters that the team was selfish and Pope didn’t know how to get Milan enough shots. From my understanding and again from what I’ve seen on Rupps rafters, the man can’t rebound or play defense, he’s just a one trick pony. Pretty sure I saw that term a few times. 😩😩😩

I’m still concerned about how Pope will game plan to get Momo open. Chandler was a pretty good shooter last year, but if teams put a chaser on him, Pope had no answer. I think Manhatten was bad so it didn’t matter but the SEC is going to be physical with him. Can UK find ways to get him shots?

The problem last year was a lack of shooters other than Chandler, I think that strategy would backfire on this years team.

Yes. But the statement was applied to UK history. He’s got a lot to do before declaring him the best ever in the program. His time at UK is unwritten. He could shoot 40%, which would still be good. He could also be stuck on a team that doesn’t get him the ball enough or struggles for meaningful wins. I then personally wouldn’t put a 50% shooter over a 45% shooter on a team that won significant games. That part is obviously very subjective.

The point is, we won’t know where he lands in UK’s history until the season is over. And our history is rich. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly hope he is! That would be awesome.

I don’t intend to be condescending. Just to try and balance out the hyperbole. I see fans do this every year - see a small sample size and make historical comparisons and grand conclusions. Then they get upset when it doesn’t happen. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I’m definitely excited though. He has the potential to be the best ever here, absolutely! But I’m not ready to place him above anyone yet, I’ll reserve judgment until the season is well under way. :)

That was the primary concern of mine when we got him.

Between the gameplan to get him open - take advantage of matchups, switches, etc., I think if you watch him much ( and i'VE WATCHED HIM A LOT OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS) oops sorry caps lock !) he has a grat shot fake, can sidestep and deftly move his feet well while on the perimeter and can generate an open look (or at least, open enough for him)

I've great confidence he is going to bury some impossible looking shots, like has has every yeaqr I've seen him play. Go back and look at some of the more crazy shots hes taken with the shot clock running down, usually ... and you'll see him hit a fadeaway corner three or something really long distance ... and his shot is never hurried or off form, just about.

He has great form, and he's just another one of those guys that, when he shoots, everyone thinks it is going in. Because it does so often.
