Time for Shawn Eichorst to open up the checkbook and offer Miles a deal he can't refuse.
I didn't agree with the sentiment that Miles should be fired because some players transferred out of the program. But it's amusing that the people who voiced that opinion are deemed a knee-jerk lynch mob, but a Miles honk thinks he should get big contract extension because of a Tweet suggesting he actually might sniff a different job. Now there's a well-reasoned, level-headed response.

I don't think that's why

Yes, right - I get that most of the people who want Miles fired wanted him gone well before the recent transfers. I'm just saying that once the decision was made to keep him, I didn't think Eichorst would be well-served by changing his mind because of the player departures.

That seems to be precisely what the New Mexico AD did. He said three weeks ago that Craig Neal was coming back, then decided to fire him because of fan unrest and because some players are leaving. That's why I can't imagine that same AD walking up to the podium in a few days and saying, "Hey folks, I know you didn't like it when I decided to keep a guy who's missed the NCAA Tournament three years in a row, and who's losing some key players to transfer. Well let me assure you that I got that message loud and clear - so here is your new head coach, Tim Miles!"

Similar to how Iowa got rid of Steve Alford - also left for New Mexico Although Alford's resume at Iowa was infinitely better than Miles at Neb.

Still thinking this has got to be an April fools joke

I'm sensing some sarcasm from Arbitr8. But seriously, if NM did offer, I hope Miles accepts. Probably best for him and Nebraska to get a fresh start.

So it would look like our last 3 coaches....

Left to be an AD at a mid major.

Cried like a baby and creepishly hung around for months.

Left the big ten to go to NM(which is actually a decent job but still a lower conference.)

.......Nebrasketball.......

Is Chris Harriman worth bringing back, assuming he is fired, too?
That's an interesting thought. Maybe they could give Molinari a bucket and a mop and tell him he's being promoted to an administrative position within the athletic department?
