Allow me to clarify my excitement - solely on if this information is accurate —-

Looks like we are going back to a power run. AND, each of these QBs can be attained for a fraction of what we were paying for DR. I’m actually excited for Rhule’s direction for the first time since he’s been here. He’s putting his focus in the trenches. Why it took him so long…? Not for me to figure out because we are stuck with him. But at least he’s doing something we need

I mean, that will help yes but we need actual coaches. It’s not like we had amazing additions to special teams but when we hired a coach who energized the unit the results came in very positive. If we are targeting Minchey or Chiles that means they want to run. I’m on board with that.

All three are underwhelming. Certainly no difference makers. If that is what our choices are it is depressing. And if we want to run the ball more you might want to fire your running backs coach since he can’t recruit running backs that are worth a damn. How do you become a run heavy team when you have zero backs on your roster that would start for any other B1G team?

I will be more impressed by signing one of these three QB’s when we also sign some great linemen and a stud running back. We are probably trying to do just that. But I will remain deeply pessimistic about next year until we do.

Choose wisely:

not apples to apples, but we need a guy who hates losing.. that usually shows up as a kid who wins games no matter how he gets it done.

I dont agree on giving up on Lateef yet. Kid was a true freshman. We have to stop assuming every 18 year old is ready for B1G snaps.

Yep, he could use some competition. I like TJ. Let’s just make his job easier and get a run offense going. Also, it matters not what they did at their previous stop- focus on their skill set and ceiling

Well, if you aren't a Rhule fan, this is all good news. I suppose they are coming here to compete and then be named as backup qb...and I suppose they are decent backups. I think if Rhule is going to stay for the long haul he needs a top of conference qb right now. TJ isn't an all-conference qb, and Rhule isn't looking for one. So this will just accelerate his demise. Remember that he is in year 4, he has already been paid 30 million and is still guaranteed 70-80 million. The team is in a state of rebuild to "what Rhule wants", and he has finally decided "maybe he should get in there and coach". I am fine with him not being fired this year, but it is inevitable and necessary in the next two years.

All you say is true. And rhule will probably **** all of this up. But at least he’s showing that he wants what most of us want. A tough team. Which begs the question - what were you doing these first 3 years?

I'm not a Rhule fan. I see him right now as a beta. However, I want and need Nebraska to be competitive in every game. Winning 9+ games next year and being "stuck" with Rhule is not a consequence. I just have little faith that a top tier or even 2nd tier starter would come here when there are other options that range from kinda better to night and day better than NU. None of these guys from that article are coming here to provide depth. In Pat Stewart I trust.

Who wants to come play for a dead man walking?
unless things really go BAD next year as in 3-4 wins, Rhule has 3 more years minimum....

Next year: Tough one with that schedule and many new coaches after a fringe improvement this year over '24
27 - Top 5 signing class...
28 - make or break

Most haven’t started recruiting 2027 yet. If NU is again limping to bowl eligibility next year I doubt that class finishes in the top 25. In that case it will be time to cut bait with Rhule.

We could have our best team since 2011 and not win 9 games next year. We should win 5, but getting to 9 is going to take Rhule rolling sixes on every roll of the dice this off-season. Any team with better players is an automatic loss for Rhule, and half the teams with equal players are losses. Rhule only beats the teams who are out-matched physically. That is why his most impressive win in 3 years is a Cincinnati team that finished in the middle of the big 12.

You realize that if Nebraska fires Rhule after next season they owe him $64 million, if they fire him after the ‘27 season they still owe him $55 million, and if they fire him after the ‘28 season they owe him $44.5 million. Maybe after the ‘29 season when they will only owe him $34 million.

If everyone on this boards opinion of his coaching, coaching hires, and recruiting is correct then the university shouldn’t expect much relief in the mitigation of damages. He won’t get hired as more than a position coach, probably at some mid-major program.

Who's Washington State's QB? They seem to find solid QBs who do well even after they leave WSU.

None of these inspire confidence. Wish our coaches would target USF's Byrum Brown. He'd be the guy to step on campus and
ignite our QB dept. There would be instant competition between TJ and him and both bring a similar skill set. Not to mention,
BB has only one year left, which is perfect considering Trae comes in and gets up to speed to take the reigns after one year.
WIN WIN.

Brown would be The Guy, no offense to TJ. No competition, although I'd be shocked if he considers the Huskers.

Chiles will be visiting Nebraska when the portal opens, according to Sean Callahan.
