Mississippi State as the Flagship University of the state

Maybe it's because I live out of state? And maybe it's because I live in a state with 2 prominent state schools but there isn't any dick swinging about who is the flagship?
I just find the entire discussion/debate funny.

And basing it on sports, which the article apparently does(I didn't open it, much less read it) just makes the argument even funnier. Seriously, sports are what determines a flagship university?

There are 2 prominent state schools in Missippi. They are in the same conference and have the same size enrollment. Hell, they are respected the same overall in terms of degree too...at least outside of the immediate area where there isn't any homerism.
The schools are known for different strengths though.
But nope, someone has to be better and there are apparently ever expanding ways to prove it.

It was painful to read. Aside from being amazingly simplistic there were errors all over the place. Is that site something like Bleacher Report where anyone with a pulse can pretend to be a journalist.

The whole flagship argument is a joke, and on this site it is treated as such. We are having some up years and Ole Miss is having some down. If you think this is some massive shift in the universe you are mistaken.

Friend, you need to develop a sense of irony, sarcasm and a really thick skin....and quick. Ride out the first few waves and things will settle down. In the mean time check Six Pack remembers for some of what you might be in for if you are not careful. Welcome to the board but my best advice is...tiptoe into the waters gently, get you feet wetwith a few minor posts untilpeople here get familiar with you. Doing a canonball off the high dive is no way to get started. It's not an exclusive club, but there are a few dragons around here always looking for fresh meet to hone their skills on.
