Yes , but any coach would love to come to Mississippi State because of our stadium and atmosphere. Virginia is paying O’Conner 1.4 million, and we payed Lemonis 1.3 million.
I've read that it would only cost us $500k to buy out his contract. I think the bigger issue is O'Connor being entrenched at UVA. He is synonymous with Virginia baseball. There may not be any job that can take him away from Charlottesville.

I don't disagree. I certainly don't have inside info beyond rumors, but if he was looking last year and their promises to him fell through, plus he misses post season, I could see him wanting a change. His kids are older, he's got nothing tying him down really. But we'll see, it's all hearsay until a hire is made.
It's not even hearsay. It's wild speculation. Nobody knows who we might be hiring. Not even Selmon. And really nobody besides him and a few others even know who the real candidates are. And the one's that know aren't running to message boards to post about them.
I think a lot of rumors are real. Not saying it's all real but the names are names of interest and some with interest. I can't see us paying a huge buyout which eliminates a couple rumors. I still think we get a sitting P4 HC because that's what we're after and there's almost are a few we could get IMO. If Selmon wants to look like the big dawg AD, he needs a big hire here and he knows it.
That's my concern with him. Too many memories at UVA that it would be too difficult to have that big of a change. All 875 wins or whatever he's got have come from UVA. That's a lot of time + memories to throw in the back of a uhaul and change everything you've ever known as an adult.
Very few. I don't trust any of them until I see something concrete. We've been down this road before. Agree that we probably wind up with a P4 coach, but I'll believe a home run hire like O'Connor when the contract is signed.
The only glimmer of hope I have is that Kendall Rogers thinks it's a real possibility. When he mentions it, it has a little weight. He knows more about the interworkings of college baseball than anyone. Trust me, he's just looking for a reason to tweet out "O'Connor is not looking for a change of scenery".
