Which is the only reason this is a story.

Everyone loves a good scandal. It generates website traffic. Pump out an article that says "X-University booster pays recruit" and you will get some buzz. However, I'm sure 95% of the people that wasted their time reading the article were let down when they realized said scandal was a hundred dollar handshake and some fettuccine in West Point, MS.
