It takes a couple years to get going.
No it doesn't. Calipari proved that wrong in his very first season right here at Kentucky after Gillispie. And that's when you couldnt openly buy players. It has literally never been easier to get things running than it is under today's landscape.

In the middle of a football season sitting at 4-1 w/ a top ranked team coming to town and basketball season about to kickoff and we get yet another bait thread about a past AD. Some people have monster truck sized holes in their lives.

Pope’s story isn’t written yet. It takes a couple years to get going. Ask K, Hurley, Golden or Oats.
This is a big year for him and he has his type roster. I like the look of it. We’ll see.

Did those guys have a portal to get instant players?

I just hope we have a definitive answer one way or the other. I'm worried it will be something in between again and we'll continue on in limbo.

Different eras for all of those guys. In the portal/NIL era it can happen in a year or two. There are some concerns with the way Pope has navigated this era which is probably directly related to our struggles. If he can figure out how to navigate that, he’s got a chance to be successful. But he’s got to be willing to make the changes.
Mark pope is a major fraud.

The biggest surprise I’ve seen with Pope is how stubborn and unwilling to change he is. Kinda thought we were done with that when Cal left.
