that the Rangers are going to do one of two things, and it also involves Yu Darvish:
1. If they don't sign Darvish- and Weds. is the deadline, I think they go after Prince Fielder, and then maybe sign someone like Oswalt or Edwin Jackson.
2. They are concentrating on Darvish now since they have until Weds to sign him, and then after that they will maybe make a run at Prince since they have until spring training to sign him. I'm not sure that they can afford both, but maybe they can- I doubt that they can though.
From what I have heard recently, it seems like the Nationals are the favorite to land Prince. The Cubs are trying to dump salary- they're trying to give away Alfonso Soriano as we speak.
If Fielder goes to the Rangers, it sucks for Mitch Moreland- a guy who hit the longest home run in the World Series last year as far as distance, and has put up some respectable numbers. Hopefully, he will be traded should they get Prince. Of course, if Prince goes to DC, he would block another former MSU player- Tyler Moore. Also, as far as Moreland- Micheal Young isn't exactly a young player. Their plan may be to replace Young with Moreland or possibly move Moreland to the outfield with say, Cruz in RF, Hamilton in CF, and Mitch in LF.
Another thing to consider about the Rangers- there is a good chance that they lose Josh Hamilton after this year to free agency. I've heard that the Cardinals are already interested in him if that happens, and they'll have money to spend to get him. But that's a year away, so we'll see what happens.
