How can anyone blame Mark Pope for not landing the top recruits after listening to that. Pope got to of the best players to the table with UK as the favorite and MB crapped the bed

Just turned the sound off. Just as I suspected, Vitale and Charles rambling about everything but the game. And, having to look at them. Just painful. Like seething fire to my testicles.

The real problem is Mitch trying to protect the Central Banks and Kentucky Farm Bureau types. If a player endorses UK corporate partners, they can wear the logo, if not they can't.

Change needs to happen immediately, it's absolute restraint of free trade for the NIL student athletes.

Change this rule or you will lose every top recruit.

Every single one.

And I don't blame Stokes or Collins one bit.

This is why Mitch has always been against NIL.
If boosters and corporations can give money directly to the athletes, logically that’s less than they can or will give to the university and athletic department.
So if you want to have the best basketball or football team, what’s going to produce the best result?
Giving money to get the best players or giving the money to Mitch.

It sounds like maybe the JMI offering may work well enough for the 2nd tier and lesser earning prospects from other sports but isn't flexible enough and caps the upside earning potential for the big $ elite prospects? Something is preventing us from landing almost any of the big fish.

Are you telling me when Kam Williams drops his latest diss track in a Clark’s Pump and Shop commercial with a feat. from Mountain Mamba that he can’t wear the UK logo?

Thanks Mitch

According to the article,, was the use of Kentucky..

"Several weeks ago, Fultz got a letter from one of the University of Kentucky's contract attorneys, Michael Hargis of King & Schickli. It said that UK had trademarked the word Kentucky for items such as T-shirts since 1997."
That’s such BS. I would have never believed it but the last 5+ my opinion of UK overall has gone down a large amount. A large portion of the school needs to be gutted and new blood brought in.

Honestly I’m not sure you can completely blame him. Honest truth. But he’s got to get results either way.

We as fans need to boycott all the partners and stop going to games.
It needs to be taken to the extreme. A list of every single UK partner needs to be made and those businesses need to be boycotted. Start doing business with those places direct competition. Until JMI/UK changes how it does NIL, every single UK partner needs to feel the hurt in their bottom line. If they cut ties with UK over it then even better.

Wearing a logo costs more at any level and any medium. If you notice, even pro athletes rarely appear in their actual uniform in endorsement. Its rare because its cost prohibitive.

The real issue is every nil agreement must be reviewed to ensure it doesn't run opposed to ANY interest of either the university OR its partners. That basically rules out everything. Its beyond stupid and i posted about this from the beginning.

For example, if new balance wants to offer our player a big shoe deal, it won't get approved because jmi and uk have a deal with nike. It severely limits options.

That's why it's a bad deal. Elite guys think they'll have national opportunity. They're not giving this up nor should they.

Really? Penalize the businesses that support UK? Drive them away like we did with the ridiculous alcohol advertising ban. UL benefited from that decision.
