Wow. All you need to know about this quack is right there on page #9.

She/he/it doesn't dislike Cal because of poor performance. She/he/it dislikes Cal because, well, she/he/it is a flat out bigot and racist (as I said before...she/he/it PROVES it on page 9) and clearly doesn't like that he recruits minorities. Wants to go back to the old Rupp white boy days, it seems.

What the hell forum is that? Yikes. I thought Rafters was bad. When you have a moderator quack just ripping it off with bigoted statements, you know the board is full of a load of freakshows.

"begok sucks more than all the LGBTQueers in san francisco

She's also the one who called Keion "blmbrooks" all season. Katman2000 is certifiably insane, he posted here back in the Tubby days but got banned. I can't believe that disaster of a board is still around.

Top to bottom, when has the athletic teams been better?
The only problem there, is about 9 in 10 UK fans could give a rats rectum about anything but football and basketball.. NIL is here , the genie is out of the bottle and nobody, not NCAA or old school ADs like Mitch is putting it back. He needs to be actively positioning us now to be competitive in that arena. Anything about today's statements give you that impression?

Figures as much. His history here is always being cautious about every single thing. However I think we are screwed with NIL regardless. The big time money sets up perfectly for schools like UCLA and Illinois that have fans in large metropolitan areas with numerous more companies and opportunities to choose from.

For instance one player can get a nice sponsporship from Porsche here but what about in LA... that same player can get multiple different deals with different companies. There’s more out there to be made bottom line
Maybe.

What about national brands and endorsement? For example, if the NIL existed back in 1997, does McGrady choose Kentucky for a year and take that $10 million dollar Adidas deal? This thing is bigger than local endorsement deals.

Plus, one would have to think that companies in a place like LA would rather just get someone from the Dodgers or Lakers to endorse their product over some unproven 18 year old college player.

I’m actually a fan of Mitch. Yes, Billy G & Joker, but also Stoops (can’t really give credit for Cal). I don’t remember UK being competitive in multiple sports like this before, Especially Olympic sports. SEC is not just king in fooosball. Best swimmers in the world go to SEC or PAC schools…and we recently won a conference championship. I don’t think people appreciate how hard that is. And at every event, there’s Mitch, behind the dugout, on the pool deck, on the sidelines. Seems like a hard but rewarding job. I think Mitch actually personifies the BS that Cal spouts about really caring about students. He does seem to actually care, and I think that’s special.

I think people appreciate it...but most understand where priorities lie. Revenue sports generate everything and must be the focus. It's no coincidence UKs non revenue sports all started really taking off about the same time as the sec network and other sponsorship money started flowing. Revenue sports generated that money too. Add that to the incredible profitability of football and you can see where every dollar comes from; and it ain't from rifle shooting or bowling.

At the end of the day, revenue sports are what matter in the sec. If they do poorly, the others suffer. If Mitch doesn't stop with the Mayberry routine, both revenue sports are going downhill and in a hurry.

I think you are correct about the other sports. To have UK when a NC in volleyball is insane. Other sports like you mentioned have performed well too.

I do think Mitch is totally disconnected from fans and makes some lousy decisions around them at times.

Example- giveaways at Rupp to LL only. Beer sales to box at Kroger Field only.

Better be worried about the other big school within this state. Look at bb and fb .

Isn't it odd since NIL that the one thing UK could guarantee was that men's bball would contend. Now they are playing catchup while UK has elevated its other programs.

Volleyball has had a fantastic run and I hope they are bringing in the best when they have the 'opportunity' with all the resources we have. That sport is rising in popularity across the NCAA and it's something special to be able to compete with the Pac-10 and Big-10.

Mitch has definitely made some terrific program decisions, and he isn't going to get everything right. He also has shown Cal appreciation. So now Cal thinks he needs a facilities upgrade, but don't you think he should bring in some tourney money once again?

Maybe it’s cheaper for said company to sponsor a college athlete instead of the pro, all the while the college player is making bank from having multiple deals.

Even though college sports are overshadowed big time in those areas, they still get attention. There’s enough eyeballs to go around even St Johns gets good coverage in NYC.

As far as a national deal, it was my understanding that they couldn’t do any shoe or athletic apparel endorsements. But I’m not sure why a company like Pepsi can’t come in and have Oscar become the face of the franchise.
