I remember that game....

Bond kept on giving the ball to the fullback (I think Donald Ray King) up the gut, when the outside was wide open.

I remember that,too, was a junior @ MSU

That should have been our only loss that year. Should have been 10-1, SEC champs. Most talented State team in my memory

you're partly correct..........

Bond kept giving it to Al Rickey Edwards, but Missouri sending everybody outside to take away the QB keeper and the pitch. They gambled that Al Rickey wouldn't beat them and they were right. King was hurt that game.

Depends on what you define as a road game. That game was played at Memorial Stadium in Jackson. I reckon you would call that a neutral site game. State played 5 games at Memorial that year. I was at all of them. A lot of gut wrenching losses. There was talk preseason of State being a national champion contender, but Bellard took care of that. Loads of talent. Probably most talent in my lifetime.

I remember Bond losing his **** that game

I'd show up and sell cokes the first half and then watch the game, you could go right down to field level pretty much that way. Bond was trying to run outside, got strung out to the Mizzou sideline. As he was coming back on to the field, he stuck his arm out and swept about 100 cups of gatoraide off their training tables, dog cussing them the whole time, pretty much dared anybody on their sideline to do anything about it. I remember thinking "wow, he wasted a lot of gatoraide."

Think about it

You are a 21 YO college student making your first trip to Athens and you WIN. I might die in a way that would make Nikki Sixx proud.
