Bringing my response over from the Poli Thread with a couple of updates:

Here is a summary of the timeline based on my understanding having read the article:
1. September, one individual, unidentified and not verified, used a racial slur against the President of the Mizzou Student Union as he walked across campus. No threats, just racial slurs.
2. The Legion of Black Collegians, while preparing for an activity, had "a young man” talking on his cellphone walked up to the group. After being politely and repeatedly asked to leave, the man walked away but referenced LBC members using racial slurs."
3. Someone doodled a swastika in feces somewhere on campus. No comments, no threat--just a swastika. (I'm surprised the Jewish Campus Organization hasn't brought up Anti-Semitic rhetoric.)

From this point on, there were no other cited racial incidents. Everything else mentioned relates to various protests by the students and their perceived lack of response by the university President. The President, based on what I read, didn't actually do anything, other than not reply to their demands in a manner which they expected. If you read through the timeline, the President did respond on multiple occasions to some degree...again, just not enough to their liking.

I'm sorry, but if there's not more than this--F'em. Over a period of two months that's all they have to complain about? I'm sure if you polled the Whites, the Hispanics, the Indians, the French, the Lesbians/Gays/Transgenders, the Handicapped, the Harry Potter fans, the Jews, the Orientals, the Forestry Club, the Swim Team, the members of the Glee Club, the Fraternities, the Calorically Challenged, the Frisbee Golf team, the Cheerleaders, the Sororities, etc. you would find at least this many incidents of improper abuse for each group.

What if you asked all of the African-American football players that went on strike, "Have you used an improper or racially insensitive comment in the past 60 days directed at someone of another race?." If they answered truthfully, do you really think there would be less than 3 instances across all 30+ players?

Or if you asked virtually ANY random group of 30 students the same question, would they pass the sensitivity test?

Racism has no place anywhere, but if we are going to hold one person accountable for the actions of 30,000-40,000 people over a 2-3 month timeframe? I think we are setting the bar a little too high.

Final question: Have you, either directly or indirectly made any type of racially or stereotypical insensitive comment over the past 60 days? (This includes outright comments to a specific individual and/or an audible comment that at least one other person heard. I won't even bother with what you think and/or mumble under your breath.)

Whatever admiration this movement might have generated in the beginning was quickly thrown into the toilet with the way those mostly white sanctimonious ******** treated that asian american journalist. Lead by a "Greek Life" employee.

Oh and then topped off by the assistant teacher screeching at the videographer to get away, and asking for "MUSCLE" to come take care of him.

The changes that they are demanding won't be free. Next up, complaining that the cost of going to UM increased as a direct result of their demands.

The bigger concerns will be donations and applications going forward. Scary times for UM.

I'm really at a loss and don't know what else to say. ESPN is equating this to rosa parks and the fight for equality. Somebody on here wants me to read a book written in 1961 chronicling the authors experience traveling thru the segregated Jim Crowe south. We, as a nation, have lost our ever loving minds.
I'll flat out say it, much like the michael brown debacle, this whole situation is predicated and built on a lie. And NOBODY in the media or in the Mizzuo administration has the balls to admit it.

For the head coach and the school's athletic director to join force with the students against their boss something seriously had to be very wrong.

No. It means there wouldnt be a football game sat, and the school would lose tons of money. That was the real concern.

It means you speak out against people slinging racial slurs and such at the very least. Might even make an effort to find those rubbing human **** on the walls. You know, the opposite of doing nothing.

This could have been prevented imo is all I'm saying.

Im not sure what youd want done. As another poster pointed out, 2 of these incidents likely didnt occur. Even if they did, there was ZERO proof that either perpetrator were students/faculty at UM. So, at worst, 3 examples of random people doing something bad. Im not sure why the president should even be involved in such minor incidents. If he were, when would he have time to do anything else?

And if people are really that concerned about people who are dumb enough to smear **** on a wall, then we're worse off than even I thought.

Whats next? "I SAW ON THE BATHROOM WALL THAT I SHOULD CALL RHONDA FOR A GOOD TIME. I CALLED, AND RHONDA DIDNT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT AND SAID SHE WAS NOT READY FOR A GOOD TIME. I NEED THE PRESIDENT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ATROCITY"

Logic fails everything these days, but it seems pretty unreasonable for a college president to be responsible for tens of thousands of 18-22 yr olds behaving in perfect manner at all times

Don't always see eye to eye with you on such issues, but have to completely agree. When reading the timeline, I was like "hmm, what?" I'm really not sure what they expected out of the guy. We're not even talking about the chancellor here.

Now, I can understand the outrage over the grad students stuff, but that's not racial.

The Mass Media prof also made her twitter private...wut.

Comedians like Seinfield and Louis CK have said they don't play campus events anymore due to the outrage addiction. Even the POTUS said a couple of months ago that he was concerned about limiting of speech on campuses. Seems to be a runaway train.

I'm advocating violence at this point. The SJWs are primarily little hipster nerds. They go crazy on college campuses because the administration empowers them and there are absolutely no repercussions. Look at the student dog cussing a professor at Yale because he was defending his wife's free speech. 60 years ago she would have likely been expelled for something like that.

I hate to say it, but a few of these nerds need to get punched in the face. Once these guys realize they can't go around spouting off whatever they want without fear of consequences, this stuff will be over.

I was, quite frankly, amazed and dismayed that the President stepped down. Extortion is not free speech. Where does this madness end? They wanted him to apologize for 'white privilege'? OMG, what a fantasy world these pinheads live in. At some point in their lives, and I hope very soon, these same self-absorbed victims will experience the real world and wake up to reality.

Someone called you a name and now you want the PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY to make it stop? What a load of crap. If it was me, I would've let the pinhead starve and I would've revoked every scholarship for every player that boycotted a football game. It's a privilege to have a college education given to you and you're gonna cost this university millions of dollars because someone got their feelings hurt by an alleged racial slur? Well, guess what? Your actions have consequences - life lesson. Learn it, live it, love it.

This crap has gotten completely out of control. And, btw, increases racial tension and division among all Americans. Well played, pinheads, well played.

My brother went to an Ivy League school where they had lots of muggings and assaults (actual crimes) on campus by the local townies. I'm pretty sure the president wasn't called on to address each of those incidents.

My favorite part of their demands besides the white privilege nonsense is that black faculty must increase 10 percent. Never mind if they're actually qualified. They must be black.

I love that these idiots don't see the hypocrisy in that type of demand and little groups and clubs formed consisting of only their same race of people but then would freak out if whites tried to do that.

Schools and universities are starting to reap what they sow. I wonder if the football team was in the hunt for the national championship, would they still have threatened not to play.

what a joke this story is. The students are acting like there was a lynching of a black man in the psych 101 classroom. The president of the university is a dumbass for doing nothing I will say that but letting the lunatics run the asylum (students) won't end well.

Their list of demands [roll]

Has anyone ever explained why a black person would be insulted/frightened/harmed by the image of a swastika in feces? Pretty sure blacks accounted for about 0.0001% of those murdered by the Nazis from 1933-1945.

If someone made a swastika in blood, I might be worried a little. If someone makes a swastika in ****, I would think someone hates Nazis more than I do. I'm white though, so I probably don't understand.

Stipulated. I don't know what went down. Buuuuuut. First, no white guy, unless he has mental problems, is going to walk up to just ONE black guy and call him the "n" word. Much less a dozen blacks. And how many, black or white, really believe the white guy would just walk away unharmed from that alleged episode even if he did have mental problems? Secondly, the feces event is still undocumented. Even if documentation comes out, I have heard no evidence of who it was aimed at nor the racial identity of the perp. I haven't heard whether there are any witnesses to the alleged racial slurs from the passing truck.

Why not? Even though "hands up, don't shoot" has been proven to be a lie, every black activist still uses it as though it was a fact. So, using a poop stain from another school to fabricate an issue, is no big deal for them.

I kid you not. This is real.

Yes, black fast food work matters. You're the Rosa Parks of McDonalds fighting the systematic oppression that caused you to get no education or work hard and rely on fast food employment as a career field.

The age of PC has been a disaster to our society...a total disaster.

I don't know, man. I mean, we all get frustrated with every other Windows release, and there are some crappy PCs out there (Gateway? Compaq? Ugh.). But I think overall we've benefited from the model where there are diverse manufacturers of PCs, even if they're all running the same OS and mostly built around the same requirements.

A friend of mine drunkenly wandered into someone else's dorm room one night. The occupant and his girlfriend were laying in bed and watched in horror as my friend stumbled in, dropped his drawers, and pissed all over the girl's clothes that were piled up on the floor.

I could definitely see someone getting drunk and smearing **** on a wall for no other reason than just to do it.

You must atone for your white privilege and see the light. Throw your sins of middle class, love for New Balance and Dave Matthews Band albums into the fiery pits of hell and apologize to the next black person you see.

I've seen two people mention this. For the record, the Jewish Student Organization at Missouri criticized the administration after the incident as well, in part because they weren't informed about it happening until days after the fact. Also, the group first learned about the swastika from a student reporter, not from the school itself. As a result, JSO reached out to the Legion of Black Collegians to participate in a social media campaign using the hashtag #hateliveshere.

On an entirely unrelated note, Jonathan Davis, the graduate student who threatened a hunger strike, participated in the protests at Ferguson. Just an interesting tidbit, I thought.

Very good info.

Still waiting for their protests of the rape victims football players there have committed and faced no justice over.

They also had no trendy hashtag over the former Missouri swimmer who was gang raped by some Mizzou football players and then killed herself.

Nope. They must fight the injustice of a poop swastika that may not even existed and some random guy in a truck that we have no proof happened either.
