I was watching the Friday game (first SEC road win!), and it looked like Mizzou's field had artificial turf in the infield and natural grass in the outfield. Seems strange. Also, unlike KPP, if looked like the pitcher's mound was artificial turf, but I've seen that at Indiana's field in Bloomington when we played them last year.

I thought the same thing. Not sure if it was that way but the outfield grass looked kind of yellow for turf.

From Mizzous webiste:

THE FIELD
The actual playing surface is handled by the grounds crew at Mizzou, led by Director of Turf Management Josh McPherson, and the Tigers' coaching staff.

The dimensions of the symmetrical playing surface are 340 feet down the lines, 375 to the power alleys and 400 feet to center field.

The field was resurfaced in 2012 with a new type of Bermuda grass called Latitude 36, the first of many changes with the resurfacing project. Simmons Field at Taylor Stadium was named 2011 College and University Baseball Field of the Year by the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA).

Thats really cool stuff from what I googled in just the last little bit.

I read that too, but it is clearly artificial turf in the infield. Their web site is out if date. Plus @chill133 said he is there and confirmed what I thought.

Wichita State back in their heyday used to have that same configuration and Texas add to have it at Disch Falk Field iirc. It allows for better surface for the infield and less maintenance, and also keeps rainouts down to a minimum. Also, infielders diving on the old super turf was more of a rug burn -that part you usually discovered in the postgame shower when the water hit it - not good. Also, diving on turf in the outfield can cause injury, and less traffic on high wear spots so it easier to maintain.
