and goes from Thursday thru Saturday. That's 17ed up timing by MLB. Could you imagine the NFL draft happening at the same time as the BCS Bowl Games? Nope but that's exactly what's happening for baseball.

Except the NFL draft is an event full of pomp and pageantry. The MLB draft is about as exciting as a teleconference at work. Because that's all it really is.

Will our QB commit get drafted high enough for him to go?

Can't remember his name ....

I'm saying it's 17ed up for the players playing this weekend that will also get drafted. Imagine coming back to the dugout to find out you got drafted by the Yankees in the 5th round. It's kinda robbing those players of the draft experience. Hunter Renfroe is slotted to go 13th in the 1st round right now but he can't really be with his family to celebrate when he gets selected can he?

The draft used to be during the CWS back when they used to play the regionals on Memorial Day weekend and didn't have super regionals. So it's at least a little better now. They should have done this on Tue-Wed-Thur though. From MLB perspective, they can't really wait till the CWS is over. There are only about 60 or so draftees still playing, and some of those won't sign this year anyway. And the rookies already have a short season. If they waited 3 weeks, it would just be that much shorter.

You are about to see an MLB comeback. All the nonsense going down in the NFL, and the NBA is a joke.

And the BCS football games would more equal the College World Series.

No we're not. The sport is too slow - might as well watch a soccer game. Baseball has been in a steady decline and it makes sense because we all are used to fast paced results on our 4G phones or in our sports. Baseball used to be the national pastime back when the alternative was watching the crops grow...

I also find it odd that you didn't mention the ongoing issues with PEDs in baseball that is all over the news, including A Rod potentially getting a 100 game suspension when you threw out "the NBA sucks and the nonsense in the NFL"...

I believe the sport is actually thriving thanks to television dollars. The Dodgers just got bought for $2 billion. Nobody pays that kind of cash for a team that's in a declining sport.

Watched the whole 1st round last summer. Bud stands on one of those mobile stages people set up for kindergarten graduations and butchers everyone's names.

Baseball changed the way the teams can allot money for players in the draft I believe last year and I think this will reduce the amount of "risky" picks that are taken in the first 5 rounds. My gut says Cord is taken too low for him to go pro right now.

That's sort of the appeal.

Oh, you must be one of those guys who gets his panties in a twist anytime someone dares criticize the glowing organization that is the NBA.

And YES, MLB is making a comeback. Attendance numbers are up. Already has the highest overall attendance of the big 3. Baseball is unique to the other sports, takes more than just raw ability to succeed. Have to use your brain. It attracts similar fans.
