with this pending ownership change. The sooner they get it done, the easier it will be to deal current players.

We need production from the OF, and with Prado about to come off the DL, and the likelihood of Chipper hurting himself multiple times the rest of the year including his current stint on the 15 day DL, I think Pence can take Prado's place in LF and Prado will go back to 3rd, or maybe play SS if Gonzalez continues to struggle.

McLouth, Uggla, and Gonzalez are doing nothing at the plate. We need another bat to take on the Phillies, and that showed this weekend losing 2 of 3 to them and only scoring 7 runs in 3 games. I think Frank Wren will make a heavy push for Pence, because if Pence were on the team right now,he would lead the Braves in hits, RBI, and batting average. We need that bat badly.

There's a good reason why the guy has been a base coach for 27 years and NEVER a manager................because he sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would give the Astros a 2012 staff of Wandy, Bud Norris, Teheran, Minor and Lyles - hopefully with Myers getting traded as well. <div>
</div><div>Not too shabby. </div>

I think the other piece would be someone like Wilkin Ramirez. Some think he may take Gonzalez spot at SS before the year is over. The Braves may have to part with him and either Minor orTeheranto get a bat like Pence.

My problem is we have been extremely unsuccessful in recent acquisitions. McLouth, Gonzalez, Uggla, Ankiel, Kotchman, Garrett Anderson, Kotsay, Derrek Lee, Melky Cabrera. The list is long. I would hate for us to give up 2 of the most promising prospects we've had in the last few years only to see Pence flop like Uggla has. We have a great record, and the team has been able to piece together wins on the back of our staff pitching their asses off. But that won't last the rest of the year, and it's either gamble on getting someone like Pence, or gamble of the staff holding together and Uggla and Gonzalez having strong second halves.

2 bats, Carlos Beltran and ??, and one RP. Don't forget about the Champs, they are better this year than last year at this point in the season. Giants pitching 1-12 will keep them in every game but can they get clutch hitting again to repeat? I think they will. If they don't I think the Phillies or Braves will, those 3 teams have pitching that is much better than the Red Sox, Yankees, and Rangers have. Pitching wins this year.

I hope they don't trade Rasmus- simply because Berkman is old and they don't know if they will get Pujols back. So, unless it was something outrageous like Roy Halladay for Rasmus, I wouldn't move him.

I would like to see them trade for Heath Bell. The Padres are going to want hitters, and the Cardinals are a lot deeper as far as pitchers, so it may not be a good fit. If they go the starter route, they should move McClellan back into the bullpen, which is what I guess they would do. I could see them getting Jason Isringhausen from the Mets since LaRussa apparently loved him.

I would not move Shelby Miller or Carlos Martinez- those two are front line rotation guys. I could see them possibly trying to move Zack Cox, Jordan Swagerty, Seth Blair and Lance Lynn.

I'm not argueing that he sucks, though. Or that managing in AAA is that much better than being a bench coach.

A rotation of Jair Jurrgens, Tommy Hanson, Julio Tehran, Aroydis Vizcaino, and Mike Minor is pretty sick. And then Kimbrel as the closer. Wow. That's easily the most talent that they have had pitching wise since Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Avery, and Neagle were all on the same staff.

They are going to miss Buster Posey. Last year, I think it was their time. I picked them win once postseason started last year. If the Cardinals had Wainwright, I would pick them to win it. But, as it is, I think the Phillies will be really tough because of their pitching, but they miss Werth a lot. I also like Milwaukee- if they get in the postseason, they could definately make some noise.

I think you have to mention the Yankees as well. I would kind of like to see Cleveland win it all- maybe a Cleveland/Milwaukee World Series. I would enjoy that- ESPN wouldn't. But screw them.

Ask me again after the trade deadline- the whole game just takes a totally different shape literally in one day.

It wouldn't shock me. The Cubs seem worse now than they were last year, and now you have things like Dempster having issues publicly. Zambrano has had issues with other managers, so I don't think that's necessarily Quade on that.

Personally, I think he is in over his head.

He's been far more effective than Minor in the Majors.

I think the Cards to trade Rasmus b/c it's clear they like Jay and Craig was tearing the cover of the ball before his injury. Rasmus to the Braves for Minor might be a deal that makes sense for both clubs.

The Pads are going to try and unload Ludwick and Bell and are going to wants some young bats in return. Rasmus is an option here as well.

I agree that Dempster is moving for the Cubs and I know they'd love to unload Soriano. They'd also trade A. Ramirez but he's said he's not willing to waive his no-trade clause. However, with the A-Rod injury I could see the Yanks making a play to acquire him and I bet he's waive that clause to move to a true contender.

I think he's more of a utility guy/role player than anything, and I'm not sure that he will continue to hit well. I feel like Rasmus is more proven and is a better overall player in terms of upside. I like John Jay though. But I'm thinking more along the lines of Jay replacing Berkman rather than Jay replacing Rasmus.

I would definately want more from the Braves than just Minor because Minor is just learning to be a MLB starter. The Cardinals are going to want someone that can help immediately.

I wonder how much longer Chipper's knee is going to hold up. He may need several rest days down the stretch to be healthy for the playoffs. With Freeman coming on lately, McCann finally has a little help. Heyward needs to do something and get Prado back.

Has anyone gone to see the M Braves play? They have a guy playing first right now Mejia. Big guy can run pretty well. He has some power and has one of the better avgs on the team. I wonder if he could play LF.

The Braves ain't trading Julio Teheran. My guess is they don't get any big name free agents unless they find someone dumb enough to take Lowe off their hands or they lose a position player for the year.

I could see the Braves trading for Hunter Pence or Colby Rasmus. I dont think the braves will be willing to move Tehrehan or any of the highly touted pitching prospectsother than Minor. I think Brandon Beachy is a guy that they may consider moving or Mike Minor. I like Minor but he just hasnt learned to pitch at the big league level yet. Beachy has beeen very effective thus far. I hope the Braves actually make a good move for once. The front office has really missed on the last few trades/signings.

On another note, the M-Braves SS Pastnoricky looks to be the real deal. I hope he continues to progress this season and is able to make it to the big leagues out of spring training next year.

and i just checked, and he already got it scoped.

what really works against the Braves right now, is that THIS month was the best month for them to have a new LF, with either Prado or Chipper out the whole month. but no one was ready to trade one. by the time the deadline rolls around, they probably won't have as much need for a LF.

Beltran would be the best fit for Atlanta, but i doubt ownership will let them add payroll, and they won't want to trade top prospects within the division. a three-way Lowe/Beltran deal is still a longshot though.

I imagine if they deal any prospects, it'll be Vizcaino. his stock has never been higher, and they've always viewed him as too much of an injury risk to include him in their plans. Minor too, as their 1st round pick this year smacks of being his replacement in the system. and together they make a pretty good package: a major-league ready starter that's pretty much a sure thing with a low ceiling, and a possible ace or closer that's more of a risk and is a little further away from being ready. But Beltran is the only available guy worth that, and that's only if they don't have to pay his salary (Rasmus is LH, Kemp is a pipe dream, and Pence can't play CF as far as i know).

Unless they can get a combo like Teheran/Wilkin Ramirez or something like that. Ideally, I would like to see Wandy/Myers/Bourn/Barmes/Keppinger moved for whatever they can get. I would like to see Carlos Lee set adrift in the Gulf of Mexico. Wandy should get a decent return - probably the best available pitcher out there. Myers screwed us, but we really screwed ourselves extending him, but maybe we can get a B level prospect for him based on his track record. <div>
</div><div>I just think it would be nice to have Pence around to anchor the team. The Astros have surprisingly had a few players make pretty big jumps in the minors, all of the sudden having a few legit prospects. Lyles is already up at 20, and JD Martinez and Jose Altuve are looking like impact players. Problem is, none are really middle of the order run producers. Wallace still has time to develop, so I still have hope for him. Hell, it took Adrian Gonzalez a while to catch on - My hopes for Wallace are for a Gaby Sanchez/Freddy Freeman type player - high OBP, 20 HR pop. So in sum, I would like to get a couple of pitchers and some left-side infield talent in return for Wandy/Bourn/Myers, if possible.</div><div>
</div><div>It looks like Rays mastermind Andrew Friedman is interested in taking over the Astros GM job after the ownership change. That would be HUGE. I look for the Stros to be back in the conversation in about 3 years time. </div>

pretty much set. If anything, they need some bullpen help. I wouldn't mind seeing them go get Capps or Wood.

They are in no shape to compete for at least another two years. There is no pitching in the system ready to come up and help. They are going to have to tread water with what they have for now and use the money freed up when all the huge contracts start expiring to reconstruct the team. No need to fire a manager when you know it's not his fault. That team couldn't win with Connie Mack and John McGraw in the dugout.

I think if Colby is traded it says something about LaRussa's future as well. I think LaRussa may be done with putting up with him BUT if LaRussa is about to call it quits at the end of the year, which I think is going to happen the Cards will probably hang on to him, I mean he is still just 25, people forget that b/c he came up so early. Not that I wouldn't love to see a new SP in the rotation.
