Sounds like the Dodgers are close to acquiring Carlos Lee from Houston.

There's also some talk of the Phillies moving Cole Hamels and Brewers trading Zach Greinke. Rangers are reportedly interested in both. I'd think Greinke is the more likely fit there, because Brewers are going to want some pitching and a short stop prospects, and the Rangers have a kid in AA that looks pretty good.

Talk of the Braves making a move for Garza. That wouldn't shock me with Beachy out.

Carlos Lee is leaning towards not waiving his no-trade clause. If I were Astros management, and he didn't take the trade to a contender, I'd send him to AAA.

I'd rather play in LA for a playoff team with Kemp, Gordon, etc than in Houston.

He loves Houston.. he's said it a million times publicly. He loves living there, playing for them, etc... even though they are losing.

The thing is if he wanted Hou to be a contender you would think he could make a deal with them to say "trade me for the best package" and then re-sign me in the offseason.. The problem is that houston will probably not even make him an offer this offseason because they suck so bad they don't need him.

He has a ranch just outside of Houston that he likes to stay close to. I believe he raises quite a bit of cattle on it.

I still think the family excuse is a little tough in the situation. You have the opportunity to go to a winning team. You've made over $100 million in your career. Your family is used to you being gone because you play MLB. You could easily spend the next 3 months in LA and be just fine.

If he has a family member dealing with something that we don't know about, then so be it. But I don't see any reason that Lee shouldn't be pursuing a World Series Ring at this point. This trade would give him the best opportunity to do so.

Starting him off in the minors to finish rehab from Tommy Johns, but they think he will be a factor i nthe rotationthis year down the stretch. Minor and Delgado have sucked recently and I'm still not sold on Jurrjens returning toanywhere close to the first half of last year. That leaves Huddy and a streaky Hanson to rely on. I think the Braves have to make another rotation move becausewe will need a veteran arm for the playoff run.

Now that Andrelton Simmons is going nuts at SS and looks like our SS of the future, we can add Pastornicky to the trade pot to sweeten a deal. Probably will see some Jurrjens andPastornicky talk as trade possibilities to a team with a veteran starter.

like someone said, it's pretty obvious that this means that they won't try to re-sign him in the offseason. This is the business side of the sport- even though you may like it where you are and are performing, sometimes you are still going to get moved. It's about money.

So, either way he is going to have to go at some point pretty soon.

Obviously winning a WS ring doesn't mean that much to him- but that's not all that uncommon among a lot of Latin players. For some of them, winning the Caribbean WS title in the winter would mean more. They play in MLB for the money. And considering their conditions back home, it's hard to totally blame them.

Sometimes players get to a point where other things mean more to them than winning. Like making sure their family is taken care of. Especially if they have won in the past before.

those on Major League contract have to agree to be sent down. those still under 'team control', ie have never signed a FA contract (ex: Jair Jurrjens or Franceour a few years back), can be sent down without player permission.<div>
</div><div>I'm sure Carlos will agree to it.......if LA makes it worth it for him.</div>
