The Convention Center room was packed. Standing room only. Huge success for Psychout Promotions.

Going in, I wondered if this small time production would produce fights that looked sloppy and/or desperate. Most of the fights were pretty good. The ones that weren't were usually fights where one guy was a quick fill-in on short notice - like Wes Shivers opponent.

J-Rock sighting. He's gettin swole up.

Wes beat his guy easy in the 1st round. Poor matchup. Wes's scheduled opponent hurt his knee recently and they had some fill-in who managed to take Wes down early. Then Wes, from his guard, choked the other guy. We as a bout a foot taller than his opponent who was packing too much in the spare tire.

The Babalu v Kelly Leo fight was good. Leo spent most of the fight on his back, but managed to deliver more damage from his back than Babalu did from on top. Lew won.

Trey Brown made Gracie South proud in an impressive win over Tim Moore. Brown is a hella striker. He really thew some bombs.

Lots of other great fights. It was at least as entertaining as your average UFC fight. Although these guys are nowhere near UFC in strength, cardio, and MMA skills. But it was competitive & entertaining. I'd be glad to go again and even drive to a Meridian, Vicksburg, or Gulf Coast to see another one.

Speaking of UFC, Rampage-Jardine lived up to the hype. Jardine's unorthodox style hurt him more than it helped. He was left open a few times and Rampage capitalized.

My former roommate has been with them for a long time (before they were "Gracie South").

I workout, but I don't train for martial arts or fighting. I went with a buddy who does jujitsu at Gracie South.

No word from the Clarion Ledger on the biggest sports even of the year in Jackson's newest & largest venue. Heck, its probably the biggest sports event of the year outside the HS basketball tournament. No, the Dixie National Rodeo is not a sport.

I think the Clarion Ledger doesn't care about staying relevant. The Clarion Ledger is merely existing until change forces its closure.

Next MMA event is May 30, presumably in the convention center. There will be an afternoon jujitsu tournament followed by MMA fights at night. No fight card yet.
