I would watch my first mlb game this year if he did. Really enjoyed watching him.

The transactions say they called up a different AAA catcher, Audry Perez. That has to be frustrating for him.

I dont see him ever getting more than cup of coffee in the show, if ...

if he ever even gets that. The transition to the wooden bat just never really happened for him. As good as scouts are today, how hitters will translate from metal to wood is still a crap shoot. But with his lack of offensive development in the minors, the fact that he is even in AAA is a compliment more to how teams trust him to nurture and help their most prized young pitchers than his actual baseball potential. Of course homers dont mean everything, but depending on their position its one of the easier barometers to use when comparing players. Since he was drafted as a first round supplemental pick (61st overall sounds right but may not be the actual number) in 2007 he has played in a little over 600 games total in several minor league stops. He has hit a total of 33 homers in those 600 and some odd games. Hunter Renfroe played in 48 games last summer after being drafted and has played in 81 games this year so far. In those 129 career games, Renfroe already has 25 taters. Barring a major setback such as a bad injury or pitchers finding holes in his swing as he advances into AA and AAA, then he will make his arrival in San Diego before the 2015 season is over in front of tens of dozens of fans. Barring injury his career projects more in the mold of a Will Clark than of a Mitch Moreland. With the way pitching has begun to dominate in a way in which it hasnt in decades, a hitter with the raw power Hunter has shown will be prized commodity even if his batting average isnt as impressive(not that his BA is struggling so far, he is hitting nearly .280 in those 130 games, which with that power every GM in the majors would love to have)

Perez has been the regular starter for the Redbirds games I've attended this season. At least this means Ed will get more work. The one game I've seen him play this season he launched a bomb to center.
