Per one of the OM sites.

Good of move or bad? To make this MSU related, Justin Cox's int against him in the EB was one of the best plays I've ever seen on Scott field from a DB.

I think it's a fine decision

You can't predict things like injury and i'm not sure how much his stock would really improve by coming back unless he had a crazy good year. Of course for WR a ton depends on their combine showing.

Right now I'd guess he projects as a 2-3rd round pick just based on the fact that more and more teams wait on WR in the draft. But a great combine showing could boost him up.

I believe he's already projected to be an early 2nd round pick. I don't know if he'll get much higher than that if he stays.

He probably thinks he can get in the first round with a combine showing if he is projected 2nd round.

It's almost always smart to go if you're good with your money. You can go back and finish your degree, but if your body gives out there's no more NFL. The insurance policies you can get (like Gabe) can make staying reasonable, but I'd imagine they're limited in what they cover.

I'll be very surprised if a friend of the program doesn't step up and purchase

him an insurance policy so he can continue to enjoy his college experience*.

He'll be a solid NFL pick up. glad to see him go. He was the only one on ole miss' offense that frightened me. treadwell doesn't at least so far, but he's only a frosh.

Good move. I'd say early 2nd rnd.

Does have a big impact on long term earning potential to be first versus second round? If not, it's a no brainer. He's good enough to be in the NFL. He needs to get paid while his health allows it.

With the structured rookie salaries now, going first round isn't as big of a deal as it used to be (when Stafford, Bradford, Jake Long were instantly the among the highest paid in the league). I'm sure there's a difference between first and second or third round money, but not like it was just a few years ago.

The way to make the big bucks now is to get to your second contract quickly (3 yrs I think). Because then you can negotiate for the big bucks if you've earned it.

Rookie salary cap have made it to where your 2nd contract is your payday. Which I believe is a good move. That decreased the opportunity cost for returning to school though.

I think

it was a good move. Wasn't Treadwell first on the team in receptions, thereby giving him (Moncrief) fewer opportunities?

1st rounders are the only ones who make 7 figures, I believe. I know these super sophomores are making somewhere in the $1-2 mil range, but guys only in the 3rd are making about $700,000. Vick was a 5th and he makes around $500,000. League minimum (undrafted rookies who make the 53 man roster) is $380,000.

I'm not going to sit here and say there isn't a big difference in pay between each round because for a guy like me that's a big difference, but relative to what these guys are going to make it doesn't matter. If he's a late 1st rounder or a 2nd to 3rd rounder he'll make around the same. It's not about the money. It's about getting recognition for your hard work, and truthfully I'd rather go in the 20-40 range. Better chance of going to a team with a good QB and a shot at winning immediately.

You may have to go in the 1st round to get a 7 figure salary, but I think that high second round guys get a 7 figure signing bonus. I think both Darius Slay and Johnthan Banks received a signing bonus of around $2 MIL.

I'm not looking it up but pretty sure he was first on the team with 67 receptions. He had like 500yds. He did a lot of bubble screens and slants when I saw him play. Good looking player tho. He'll be able to show his stuff next year I'm sure.

Treadwell leading in receptions was more due to Freeze calling about twenty five quick outs a game. I am sure Treadwell will develop into a deep threat but Moncrief was the burner that had to be accounted for on the deep ball and his loss will hurt Ole Miss (and Bo Wallace in particular) badly next year.

Good point. I hadn't even thought of that. I guess in that regard it does make a difference in 2nd round and the later rounds, but I still think he's a lock for a good payday.

He's definitely good enough. He was also targeted less and caught less balls this year.
