1. Great job by The Recruiter of getting the team to respond after Akron. Which makes Akron that much more frustrating. But thats how the Thr Recruiter rolls.<div>
</div><div>2. We looked good in NYC- A&M was over-rated without their best player- but Arizona was not. We outplayed both.</div><div>
</div><div>3. Lots more movement on offense- set some screens, attacked the basket, looked much better. We'll see how long it lasts- but I'm enjoying it right now. I do wonder how long before teams start zoning us to make Hood and Bryant prove themselves as consistent 3-pt shooters.</div><div>
</div><div>4. Defense is back in Starkville. Moultrie brings leadership and athleticism to a group that needed it. He controls the mf'ing paint on D. Love this guy.</div><div>
</div><div>5. Bost is going to have a great season. A&M cut it to 8 and looked to be gaining momentum late- Bost cuts their throat with an NBA 3-ball to seal the deal. He just looks great so far.</div><div>
</div><div>6. Look forward to seeing Hood develop- he is smooth and steady. Best Freshman since Gordon- except Hood is a little more polished- but less agreesive.</div><div>
</div><div>7. Deville is a playa. He is 100% PG. It's great to have one of those again- havent had one since Zimmerman. And Deville plays very similar- fearless.</div><div>
</div><div>8. Most talent since 1996- and it's nothing about an agenda. It's just a fact. now 2004 was an outstanding TEAM, but that bunch didnt have more overall talent. Bost is going to outshine Bowers Sr season I believe, and we already see Deville > Ervin. That will be a big key going forward.</div><div>
</div><div>Rest of the SEC:</div><div>
</div><div>Kentucky is f'ing loaded.</div><div>Vandy will be very good- playing without their starting Center early should help them later on</div><div>Florida looks solid- played ok at Ohio State...they will be in the mix</div><div>Bama looks even better than I thought they would. They are damn good on defense- but still suspect from 3-ball range. We match up with them very well, and them us.</div><div>Mississippi and LSU will improve, but not a serious threat- but LSU's freshman is the real deal- he looks great</div><div>
</div><div>Havent seen anybody else.</div>

after seeing them play those 2 games, this team has a chance to be very good. Moultrie is a beast, the 2 freshmens are both living up to their billing, and guys like Bryant & Lewis have improved. Hell, even Sidney played with effort for 2 games in a row. And of course, Bost is a very good PG and leader.

The biggest surprise to me, by far, has been Moultrie. It's been a long long time since we've had a defensive presence down low, that could also be a threat to score inside. Just out of curiosity, how would you handle the playing of Sidney and Moultrie? I think I would be ok seeing Moultrie take the bulk of Sid's minutes in order to get Dee and Deville on the court together more.

Arkansas lost to Houston over the weekend. For once they are so caught up with football most people didn't notice. Other than Powell I don't think they are all that talented unless their freshmens are good.

Auburn is Auburn, sort of. I actually think they have more talent than they have in the last few years, but the levels were down so low for a while that's not saying much. Ward and Sullivan has the makings of a good backcourt. As usual with AU, they have to find someone in the post.

South Carolina is putrid. They already lost to Tennessee State and Elon and still have to play UNC and Ohio State in the non conference. They seriously might not win 10 games this year.

I don't know anything about UGA yet, other than they play some good teams in the next 10 days. I suspect that without Thompkins and Leslie they are going to take a big step back, at least for a year.

After watching Pearl's UT teams for the last several years, I don't think we'll even recognize them this year. A few of the players are back, but they are gonna be on the front row of the struggle bus, with USC driving.

We took care of USA, but I still think some of these teams between tonight and the first week of January have the potential to give us fits. We have shown we can play tough with real talent against TAMU and Arizona and play very well as a team, but my biggest question is if we will be able to take care of the rest of the midmajors and other teams we need to beat on our schedule this year. That's what will keep us out of the tournament, but we are off to a good start.

A 10-5 SEC record and our only "bad" loss to Akron on our resume should keep us on the right side of the bubble with these two quality OOC wins, but I think we have the potential to really make noise this year. Great showing in NYC and they have shown that we are loaded with talent.

They couldn't stop Sid or Moultrie in the post, so as long as one of them was in, we had post offense covered. Having some foursome of Dee, Bryant, Hood, Deville and Steele in helped us defensively I thought.

having 4 guys that can drive and 3 of the 4 that can finish on the floor at the same time is a ridiculous mismatch.

If Smith were playing, we beat Akron. Hood is our most talented player, but he needs to improve on defense and not disapear on offense. </p>

We can play big and just rotate Lewis in to rest each- or go small and rotate Sid and Moultrie in and out. I like our line-up both ways- depending on the type team we play.

hearing about our "defensive presence down low that we haven't had for years."<div>Seems like Jarvis was here more recently than the 90's.</div>

Jarvis also had no help on the boards, like we do now. Half of the time it seemed like Jarvis would go for the block instead of just putting a body on the opposing player on defense. It was really all he could do on defense b/c he would get pushed around by a bigger player down low. I don't see any of our 3 Big men getting pushed around under the goal this year.

Jarvis was not physical. He had a very hard time on the bigger guys even though he was a great shot blocker. He did not box out for rebounds and he had such length, he bailed us out a lot when we weren't in good position to defend. Other than Barry Stewart, we were relatively poor on defense, particularly rebounding. We just weren't physical at all.

Jarvis was the greatest "defensive presence" to ever play in the NCAA.<div>Look it up.</div>
