And ESPN wonders why their brand is going south......

"Longtime play-by-play commentator Beth Mowins will be the first woman to call a nationally televised NFL game when she announces the second game of ESPN's Monday Night Football Week 1 doubleheader, the network announced Tuesday."

I used to hate it when she called Husker games. Now I think she actually does a pretty good job. I dont know if she has improved any... of if other announcers just annoy me a lot more. Her partner Joey Galloway is way worse.

Agreed. I actually think she's good but most people seem to hate her. Most of the announcers are terrible anymore. Miss the days of Keith Jackson for college and Howard for the nfl.

Don't have a really strong opinion on Mowins either way, but it's the nightcap of the MNF week one doubleheader for God's sake. If ESPN let me hand-pick the broadcast team, the odds of me watching this game are about 20-to-1.

My favorite reference to Beth Mowins was by Herby a couple of years ago when Iowa was undefeated late in the year. Herby was questioning Iowa's schedule and Joey Galloway started spouting off how it wasn't that bad and how he had actually seen northwestern, Illinois, Indiana etc play in person .... Herby quickly replied by pointing out that you get to see a lot of those teams when you are slated to do the noon (est) kickoff games every week with Beth Mowins

I know which game I'm tuning into.
And even if beauty wasn't an issue, Not a fan of Beth Mowens call.

Rex Ryan is also calling the game with her. She is immensely more qualified to call this type of game than he is. .....not as much outrage over Rex...

Iowa fans are loving this. They always get stuck with her calling their games. I hated listening to her.
