For the record, as a 8 or 9 year old, I had a blue Chicago Cubs fitted hat with "SANDBERG" painted on the back. I used to idolize that guy because we had the same first name.<div>
</div><div>Here's a couple reasons why Cards fans did not pick Ryno:</div><div>1) As Kurt Rambis will tell you, Cards fans are the smartest baseball fans in the world. We know more than you, so just get over it.**</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>2) Ryne Sandberg - 2164 Games, 8385 AB, 2386 Hits, 1318 Runs, 282 HR, 1061 RBI, 344 SB, .285 AVG, .453 SLG, 9 Gold Gloves</div><div>
</div><div>Roberto Alomar - 2379 Games, 9073 AB, 2724 Hits, 1508 Runs, 210 HR, 1134 RBI, 474 SB, .300 AVG, 443 SLG, 10 Gold Gloves</div><div>
</div><div>Joe Morgan - 2649 Games, 9277 AB, 2517 Hits, 1650 Runs, 268 HR, 1133 RBI, 689 SB, .271 AVG, .427 SLG, 5 Gold Gloves</div><div>
</div><div>Craig Biggio - 2850 Games, 10876 AB, 3060 Hits, 1844 Runs, 291 HR, 1175 RBI, 414 SB, .281 AVG, .433 SLG, 4 Gold Gloves</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>First, Ryne Sandberg didn't have the longevity that Alomar, Morgan, and Biggio had. Second, Alomar, Biggio, and Morgan had basically the same power that Ryne had, yet these guys were "lead-off" hitters, where Sandberg was a 2, 3, or 5 guy. Sandberg trailed all of them in steals, runs, and rbi's as well. The only thing Sandberg definitively did better was hit for extra bases (as evidenced by him leading the SLG category). </div><div>
</div><div>I'd honestly think that I would take Morgan, Alomar, Biggio, and Sandberg in that order, for best 2B since 1970.</div><div>
