Now that Nebraska will get a full share of Big 10 TV revenue next year, what are they going to do with it? Facilities? (If so, what facility upgrades?), Coach's Salaries? Non-Revenue Sports for Director's Cup? Bank it? Lower ticket prices? Assist the university's operating budget? AD and staff salaries? Nebraska athletics already operates in the black.

The assistant salaries for the Williams and Diaco are already upper tier. They are replacing the video board. I think we definitely have seen an increase in the recruiting budget.

Pay what's needed to keep your 2 top recruiters here. Williams boys. Keep your foot on the gas as far as recruiting goes. We have all seen the damage that can be done when you have more misses than hits in a class. Upgrade facilities as needed. Keep up the great work with the FNL camps. Any left over they can write me a check.Winking

Just throwing this out there, I might be totally wrong in the technology but, the Heisman Experience Room in the north stadium seems very outdated. I experienced it last week at FNL and I was really disappointed in the quality of the video. I know that the highlights of Johnny Rodgers and Rozier are old but there has to be a way to make that HD, right?

The Recruiting/Player side of the facilities are WAY overdue for an upgrade.

The Osborne Complex was built in 2006. Even teams like Iowa and Northwestern have just built or are currently building comparable facilities. It should gave gotten a major renovation two years ago before mid tier teams started catching up.

If it were up to me we'd do the following:

Build a new student rec center somewhere else on campus.

Completely renovate the coloseum into a Husker Meuseum and move all the trophies, murals and everything out of the Osborne Complex over there as well as a lot of stuff that isn't on diaplay. Model it kind of like how MLB has cooperstown.

Completely renovate the Osborne Complex adding all the new bells and whistles that put it back out in the top tier nationally.

As much as I enjoy the fan amenity upgrades they are doing and as much as I Really Really REALLY want a jumbotron atop South Stadium, Those should be announced to be completed 3-4 years from now, After the more important upgrades to the players complex are done.

You know what would be nice, telling a lot of the walmart-'skers to fudge off and focus on university growth and tell some of the 'fans'(wwe like with less maturity) to go fudge themselves. Never has it been more obvious that NU doesn't need the fucknugget forum 'fans'

I too would love to see a huge screen across the top of south stadium. It would completely close in the stadium and look great.

Maybe it's just me this morning but that seemed condescending. Care to elaborate?

I know my opinion is minority here but i would not put one there, although if they did i would probably look at it.

these huge payouts are in large part due to media rights. People are unplugging from cable and finding alternative ways to watch their favorites shows/events. The business model of ESPN, BTN, and others relies on bundling themselves into cable packages - thereby all of the cable subscribers end up paying for these channels even though a small percentage may actually watch them. Many of us watch the sports channels but in order to view also end up paying for HGTV, MSNBC, FOXnews, etc. This business model that drove these massive conference payouts is becoming dated. There have been several threads here proclaiming how people are leaving cable and ESPN, etc. ESPN isn't really losing revenue because fewer people are watching the network, it is primarily because people aren't paying for the cable packages that include ESPN. No longer are the people who are only interested in a few niche cable channels going to pay for the other 500 channels that come with that particular cable package.

These massive TV payouts may not continue. I am not sure everyone should be celebrating ESPNs struggles as this has huge ramifications for the conference TV media rights. The same things are happening at fox sports and other sports channels

If we do not spend the money on keeping and attracting top level assistant coaches other teams in the conference will. Riley firing Banker and spending the money we did to hire Diaco could be a turning point for husker football. For all the fans that say we can not attract top head coaches due to geography, even if you are right we can certainly attract top assistants which is just as important. I say spend the money on hiring the best group of assistants that top level money can buy.

If we are looking for a competitive edge there it is. Wisconsin will not do this, Iowa will not do this. There is no reason we should not have the top coaching and recruiting staff in the west and on a par with Ohio state,Michigan and PSU
