and another writer something else because he thinks that is what they want to hear.

He may be solidly committed to State or he may have no clue, but I don't think anyone can really tell from his interviews.

Montez is due back at the dentist for a "routine cleaning" before signing day.

I havent read any of the articles on him but I would think that a guy committing to State who lives in Oxford would be pretty tough.

I really do feel bad for the kid. Who knows how much good advice he has access to from adults that actually have his best interests in mind. I couldn't imagine being 17 and having my entire home town giving me grief about where I'm going to collage.

If we really wanted them though, we'd just call Deuce and get him to send the helicopter to pick him up and take him to the camp in Ponotoc.

However, when a guy commits to State on Monday, gets called by Yancy on Wednesday and regrets it, then gets called by Steve on Friday and says he is solidly committed, I see a guy who is telling people what they want to hear.

Normally I would agree with you, but the Oxford pressure can't be too bad. We never get the highly rated kids from Oxford. Two are at Bama, one went to Stanford, they just never seem to stay in town.

won't be here come February. The thing I don't get is if I was a recruit, I would publicly commit to someone who offered me but privately keep it open.

when things are going well.

As a wise man once said...

I'm interested when we're good, and I only have time to ***** when we're bad.

Don't worry, Montez is ours...unless Croom cuts him loose.

I'm getting information from my source that Markel Lee is getting ready to switch too.

We will know soon. Says he is not camping at Ole Miss. If he skips the camp, I would think it is a solid sign he is back in the MSU corner.

Also reporting that Bumphis will do no more camps this summer which is a pretty favorable sign for MSU.</font>

I'm just confused on what y'all are going to do with all these sub 5-10 players.

Confusing.

This time a couple years ago our class was #4 in the nation and I still didn't understand how people got so excited about July recruiting. To each his own I guess.

RebelRichman, you make your own point I mean it's July 18th and theres really nothing else to do so why not get excited...Plus I mean this is the first time we've had anything to look forward to that concerns football because we've sucked so bad at it for the bettter part of a decade.

I think it's silly to think he won't get pressure from the locals. I'm not saying anything untoward will happen, just boosters in his ear when they see him out. It's probably not as bad as say a kid in T'lousa committing to Auburn, however.

Just because kids leave town doesn't prove there wasn't pressure to stay.

If he doesn't come to the Ole Miss camp next weekend, it will look good for you.

Any kid who has changed his mind twice since Monday is still open, even if Croom told him he wouldn't have a scholarship in February. He'll probably tell Neil McCready he is wide open next week.

I just think anyone who decides one thing Monday, another thing Wednesday, and then goes back on Friday is telling people what they want to hear. He may have talked to Nutt Tuesday and Croom Thursday and is feeling the bump from those conversations.

If you change your mind twice in a week, your mind can easily change again and you are still open.

More recruits want to go to State than they do Ole Miss right now. State is the more attractive locale at the moment. That could change next year, or even after the football season. That's also the reality of the situation. But, like Bruiser, some folks can talk themselves into anything. Be my guest.

If you're going to bring your predictable line about how I followed recruiting, don't @#!%*%% bother. I have never gotten into recruiting in the summer so save that ********.

This is exactly why following july recruiting this closely is annoying. There are a million better things to pass the summer.
here you are on a MSU board talking about recruiting in the middle of July. If there are so many better things to be doing, why are you here?

Its obvious more kids are picking State right now.

As for this kid. I have no clue what this kid wants to do. I just made an observation.

Robert Elliot told people what they wanted to hear and he still ended up at State, it happens. Marcus Tillman did it to LSU. They all thought he was going there until the 11th hour.

I'm not saying I know how this will end, I'm just analyzing the situation.

Ole Miss has never been ranked #4 in anything...what a joke. We are the ones with the national championships.

You can tell what these guys want to do. Pretty obvious Phillips wants to go to State but getting local pressure from pissed off Ole Miss fans.
