watched the first q of this scoreless game and I’m not impressed with Montini, I thought they would dominate this game? Woodstock North got beat by Marengo this year who Sterling beat 42-0 by halftime. I know it’s not over but what’s up?

Does the final score change your mind. Montini scored in their first posession in 6 plays. Not sure I ever saw them punt during the game, might be wrong. I think the first quarter they let wn move ball a bit but held them out of endzone.

I was taken aback by Sterling Warrior's original comment as Montini scored within the 1st minute of the 1st quarter. 4 or 5 offense plays and then scored a TD. I don't think Montini punted all game.

Montini used a lot of replacement players certainly after the half. Fendenzo had 2 long TD runs and sat the 4th quarter. 3 starters out on defense for Montini to start the game. I have to give credit though to the Woodstock North offensive players who despite the big deficit in the store continued to play hard all game.

Didn't Sycamore beat Sterling pretty badly?

Sterling 49, Phoenix Coop 0
Based on that score, if Montini should be fortunate enough to meet Sterling in the playoffs, Montini will be the the underdog by double digits.
Before that happens Montini meets a tough Sycamore team in which Montini will likely be the underdog.

Anyone who knows anything about 5A football knows montini is the favorite in northern part of the bracket .

I watched the last 3 or 4 minuets of the 1st q and The score on NFHS network showed 0 to 0 at the end of first quarter so I was just surprised at the score and not impressed with what I saw, but evidentially the score wasint being updated, don’t make it a big deal.

Sterling may indeed be the favorite in a semifinal match up but not sure you can use the transitive property with the Marengo score as any indicator. Montini beat Loyola which I am pretty sure would be a handful for Sterling

Coming from the same guy, I would say Montini is the favorite if they play Sterling, but they have to get by Sycamore first.

agreed and I woukd not say Sterling would be
“Don’t make it a big deal” from the guy who started a new thread about it.
hey, for the record, this is the same guy that has been saying Montini is no 1 all year based on who they have played and their record, I even said they should be ranked no 1 over Washington week in and week out in the regular season. I just wasint impressed the 5 min I watched the game.

And yes, Sterling lost to Sycamore. They were missing their two best athletes that night, that should be back for the playoffs. all credit to Sycamore, they wanted that game much more than Sterling did. They are going to be a tough out for anyone.

Just as Montini could get bounced next week by a solid Sycamore team, Sterling doesn't have a automatic bid to the semis either. Next week should be a running clock but the winner of Boylan / St Francis will be a game that Sterling could lose on a bad day. Boylan is 9-1 with 10 point loss to a undefeated team in the second round of 7A, that conference isn't great but still.
