The trend right now in the NBA is finding these players that are good defenders to be almost defensive specialists. They aren’t worried about the offense skills of the player, that can be ironed out in the G-League.
The Grizzlies drafted Mashack from Tennessee in the second round the other night. That guy has almost zero offensive skills.

I love summer league. I would never make a trip to Vegas just for that, but would definitely go see it if I happened to be there

I watch zero NBA these days, do teams value a Rodman type of player these days? He has the ability to be that type of piece for a team. I would think that adds value, but have no clue about the current NBA.
NBA teams like to try and copy cat whoever wins a championship. The Warriors and Celtics won by chucking threes, Denver won it with a multi skilled big man, and now since OKC won everyone wants the intense defenders who get a lot of deflections and steals. Thats what a lot of teams drafted this year especially in the late 1st round and into the 2nd round. Thats where Cam will get a look. They can get enough reps in him to make him serviceable offensively but you can’t teach the good instincts on defense. Some guys are just dogs and Cam is one of those guys.
