More importantly, does this affect Stanley?

It can't help his confidence that his coach is willing to risk his job/reputation on a criminal rather than stand pat. Now Nutt has to turn around and convince Stanley he was only trying to add depth rather than replace him.

On the other hand, Stanley is no longer looking over his shoulder.

because he knows what the expectations were with Masoli at QB, and he is wondering if he can pull it off

He could probably counsel Stanley on the thoughts and feelings that are going through his head right now. At least Ole Miss isn't opening with Oregon.

because basically Nutt gambled that they could pull Masoli through the loophole and he would have a former Heisman contending QB at the helm. The risk was that it would not work and in the process he would be sending a message to Stanley- "I don't think you're good enough"- which has now added a ton of pressure on him to produce because it won't be long before Ole Miss is looking for the next vegabond QB a la Brent Scheaffer, Jevan Snead, and now Masoli, to bring in to produce results.
