Honestly, not really. Is there anyone who has signed elsewhere that is really all that impressive? That's the frustrating thing. There's no "home run" out there so just get the best available and get it done. there's zero reason to be prolonging this for the likes of Sitake (or Hartline, Brohm, Diaz, whomever).
The only way this delay makes any sense is if we are talking to someone like DeBoer (or Freeman

For sure but I think hiring a guy that will bail in 2 seasons is worse than just retaining Smith on a 3 year contract at a significant savings

Absolutely. and that's my point (and hence the laughing emoji). A "home run" isn't out there so you sign the best guy you can and get them announced and in place and more on with improving the team. How is it that Florida, Arkansas, Auburn, etc get this but we are putzing around?
News is breaking on several fronts that Sitake is informing the school he is staying at BYU.
Is it sad that I hope this is completely true - both because I think he is a weird choice for PSU but also (most importantly) because if he tells PSU now then we can move on from the moronic idea of negotiating with him at this junction.

BYU has so much Mormon money. They snagged their basketball coach from the Phoenix Suns and got the number 1 player in high school hoops to sign as a freshman. Huge NIL pockets. And those Mormons can pump out the kids with all those wives

I'd say Brohm might still be (don't know) but Diaz is another one that was never considered. Which means if he's hired things went terribly wrong.

Maybe he pulls a rabbit out his hat, but as things stand now he overplayed his hand and will pay for this with his job. For PSU's sake I hope he finds someone competent.
If he truly strikes out then he overvalued the brand believing all he needed to do is make the job available and he would have a line of elite coaches ready to leave their schools for Penn State.
