Some friends of mine had a cooler of beer stolen during the game. How does everyone keep their stuff from being taken? It seems like tent and beer thievery are becoming a problem as of late

Reb lurkers, is this a serious problem in the grove?

I bought a 25' cable with loops on the ends and a padlock at Walmart last year and the problem was solved. I bunch together the generator, tv/stand, table and a couple of coolers, then lock everything together.

I was hoping to make out with some more of Sesh's tents, but I was foiled...

on back of coolers to replace cheap plastic hinges

On front of cooler

and the final ingredient. But make sure you get a code lock and not a key lock so multiple people can get in and people arent always trying to find you with the keys.</p>

ets: strip out the screws so that they can't be backed out easily or melt wax or something to make it more difficult. Granted, if they pick up your cooler and walk off, you're still 17'd. But, most of the time, people are deterred by the locks.

btw: its crucial to get the hinges on the back because most cooler lids can be ripped off from the rear despite the lock on the front. And never underestimate a drunk

We chained the new ones together, so if anyone is taking ours, they've got to get all four tents and about six coolers at once.

... get married. My wife likes to go and socialize, but she doesn't care to go to the game. So she sits out at our tent and watches our stuff...

I will say this though, we setup in the middle of the junction last year, and even with people inside the tent we had a problem with drunks that would steal beer, paper towels, chairs... basically anything that wasn't nailed down. We even once had some drunk ***** come in a just starting eating our food. We finally decided to move just outside of the junction and haven't had any problems since.

The idea is just to make it as much of a pain in the *** to steal stuff as possible.

I will be driving through Starkville Friday afternoon. Will anybody have a cow if I drop off my tent and tables slightly before 5pm at our preferred spot behind McArthur? It would be between 2:30-3pm that I would be passing through. Just didn't know how serious they were about that. I will be sure to chain them down.

My Uncle Boone has a cow. Well, he had a cow, but he passed a few years ago. And, he was in Ripley.

But, somebody, and I mean in Starkville, is bound to have a cow. And the cow should be fine. You might want to secure the bell.

Where I'm from, if you don't want to get your stuff stolen you chain it to a cow. It's the heaviest thing in our yard other than the car up on blocks.

We've had some over zealous workers hound us this year. Eventually we always convince them to let us set up early as we've had the same spot for 7 years and never seen anyone else over there at that time.

I don't know, I was always afraid to enter that building.
