At a minimum, I'd like to see the success factor applied only if a team wins their class, not just making the final four or final game.
Agreed. I think it's been awhile since they've had the talent to compete with the best in 4A. I believe Naz is factored up to 4A in baseball this year, even though they have not won 3A. Baseball is like volleyball in that a team only needs to make the final 4 twice in four years for the success factor to kick in. IMO, the SF should be designed to prevent a school (of course non-boundaried only per the IHSA) from dominating a class. If you don't win the class, it should not be applied.I would say some years yes, some no. JCA's best teams from the past decade could and did compete with the 4A powers. I would say the last two state runner up teams were a notch below the top 4A teams.
