and she told me about the Manchester teacher. Apparently he was pretty well known and liked in the community all the way up to Indianola. The whole time he had been there he allowed kids to stay at his home so there easily could be more cases of him being a peeping tom that go back a lot further than people want to think.

That first article was just down right disturbing. I can't believe a school actually sanctioned any of that.

Something has to be afoot there. I mean, really? You can get a physical from a doctor or your male 9th grade biology teacher? What? How did that not get picked up on sooner?

Yea, coach touched my balls during an exam he said was required before I could play..... Oh by the way we are showering and spending the night at his house.... HELLO....

Typically not a good idea. Where are the parents in this situation? Something just doesn't add up. Hope they string the guy up.

"The exams took place at his home, the private school and the Yazoo City Medical Clinic, according to the suit filed today in Yazoo County Circuit Court.

"Plaintiffs and their parents were advised that the physicals were required to be conducted by Darden in order for the students to be eligible to participate in football and in other sports at Manchester," the suit states.

The lawsuit also alleges the school allowed Darden, then a ninth-grade biology teacher and dean of students, to act as an athletic coach and trainer and use his home as a "clubhouse" for athletic teams where male students would shower after games or spend the night."

I do wonder how in the hell he is giving physicals at the Yazoo City Medical Clinic...Can anybody just walk in and give physicals?

I can tell you that the answer to this is no. That's why we have name badges and such.

Totally neglegent on their part.

I think I know what happened- this Darden guy was probably considered "a good guy" in the town and somehow gained a lot of clout and was allowed to do all of this crap. I really hope someone from Yazoo City that really knows can somehow explain all of this.

Darden was a medical doctor as well as a teacher and served as the trainer for some of the sports.I can understand him giving thephysicals at the clinic, but at his house? We never had thorough physicals for sports (no turning the head to cough).

My wife graduated from Manchester and said that most of her guy friends spent the nightat the guy's housea good bit even back then. She and her family were shocked, but said they never really trusted him.

maybe he can go all Andy Dusfrene and teach the prison to read.

I hate to say this, but on behalf of the MC teacher- going after a 17 chick is understandable. Wrong, illegal, etc, yes, yes, and yes.

Mr. Maxwell- dude, just wait like a year or two and then ask the girl out legally. Whether or not they hooked up, it wouldn't have been a big deal at that point. And it's not like there's not Facebook, e-mail, etc if she went off to college somewhere. He had to have known, or should have known that he was risking his job big time there. And he got burned.

But it's more understandable than turning your house into a peeping tom paradise with teenage boys prancing around and parent's not noticing this and thinking it was weird for years. That's a WTF? to me whether the guy was a MD or not. I have taken physicals before and I can't recall a sleepover portion of the thing.

When I was in school, you had two choices. You could have your normal physical, or you could have a big gay physical where some homo touched your nuts n ****. I took the road less traveled.

That would be the road less traveled unless most guys in your school liked getting their nuts felt up by some dude. So did you just come out of the closet on sixpack? Another sixpack first.

He looks like he's early 20s and the girl is 17. That's still wrong and he definitely should have known better, but if he hadn't been a teacher it would have been completely legal (assuming whatever happened was consensual) and it's definitely understandable. Of course, the fact it would have been legal is pretty 17ed up too.

which would make him 12 years older than the girl. I realize it's not on the level of a peeping tom, but trying to score with chicks that young is creepy whether it's illegal or not.

it seems kind of screwed up that it's a felony for him to do it the day before he quits his job. I'm less concerned about the 29 year old, butfor the 23-24 year olds that get caught with a 17 year old student, I'd say fire them andprevent them from teaching, charge them with amisdemeanor, but give them a pass on the prison rape. Just seems a little disproportionate, unless we're going to make18 the age of consent.
