I know a big donor here in Madison that is disgusted with NIL and has pulled all of his family's funding. He doesn't want one penny going to paying athletes and they could not guarantee that funds given to the State Excellence Fund would not be used for revenue share/NIL.

I'm wondering if these families feel the same way so they are giving to a building instead.
I’d be the same way if I was making a multi million dollar donation. I’d want to know it went to something that makes a long term impact. Not giving it to sign a QB for one season that leads us to a 5-7 season

And do you know football brings to the school and town, obviously not. Also a 5-7 year this year would be great.
I feel like ole miss has flooded our boards with bots.

Maybe so, but thankfully in this particular case, I am 100% certain they asked where the money would be the most beneficial, and that's where the money went. This family wants to help MSU, not go on an ego trip.

I can't speak for all the donors of course.
I believe this.

I don’t disagree with any of that, and if it came off like I was blaming Lebby for what he inherited last year that was not my intention. Now if you don’t change your attitude when speaking to me I’m going to have to meet you at the sonic.
Sonic or vet school?

Additionally, we’ve been playing catch-up in the NIL/transfer portal era. We had an AD from 2016-2022 (a crucial period of college athletics) who did essentially nothing to lead efforts in NIL and tried his best to treat baseball as the #1 priority. This is not good for any school, especially one like Mississippi State, who needs to be ahead of the curve in these situations.
It doesn't really matter, we all can agree or disagree on Cohen and what he did.....bottom line is, who is here now will be able to set the narrative and the fans will go along with it if we win. Right now and ever since Selmon/Lebby got here, fans are divided for a number of reasons (losing, 3 coaches, Keenum, &tate, NIL/portal, whatever) but ultimately the 'new' will win out because people get tired of bltching and just want something to look forward to and feel good about again. That's what happened during the Croom Error. It's up to leadership to do something about it, or not.

I've just seen too many repeated mistakes made by MSU athletics in so many areas. All I really care about now is baseball, the rest is sheer entertainment. And if we screw up this next hire, that will be cut loose too.

Just the way it is.

Yeah I kept my football tickets to support them but I'm not looking forward or sure how many games that I'll actually go to. Basketball I'm looking forward to. Baseball I can't get tickets so don't really care. If they do good then I'll watch on tv but if not I have more time to enjoy doing other stuff. I'm not going to baseball until the fix the seat situation. They need more seats. I don't care what yall say about it. I won't go until they do or I'm able to get some. I'm not getting there hours early to fight for a spot in grass that I can't get in and out. I'm also not buying a ticket to one game at a cost for 1/4 of what yall pay for the season.

The “new” will win out if we start winning. Otherwise the “new” will be fired and we’ll move on to the next “new.”

Well the good news is that we will have a good idea of where we stand in week 2. ASU will be a top 15 team and Leavitt is a projected top 5 QB (I don’t see it).
If the defensive front is half of what has been hyped so far at least we shouldn’t be giving up 300 yards on the ground to any single back.
If we could get a win over ASU and avoid an 0-8 in the SEC, maybe some of the constant negativity can be tamed. The sad part is the negative Nelly crowd has never been this vocal, not even during the Crooms error.
I wonder if they will have another sketaboo that will run it down our throat all game. I can take the qb being good but watching an msu defense being ran through like that used to be rare.

I think the appropriate response is "thank you."

Also, moving forward NIL will be much more integrated with the AD. So money here helps there.

Edit: Let me also say, I've seen some pushback on the idea of building a new IPF at all, and I get it. We all want to have more money to buy better players. But something we are also fighting is a perception that we are broke/second class/poverty program, etc.

Over time, top notch facilities should help to change that perception.

I've heard of multiple instances of us offering more money to a player just to have them go elsewhere because of this perception.
Not necessarily "broke/second class/poverty program, etc.".... but more like "a small market SEC program".

We are recruiting exactly where we have been since Mullen got here. Our problem isn’t money. It’s coaching. We have already proven we can be competitive recruiting like we are now.
Would like to see us improve our DL-area recruiting (including DE's & LBs). Ole Miss, BAMA, and UGA taking the cream of that crop when we used to get it.

DT had a better year this year in the portal, but it still isn’t to our former standard.
