Here's how it went down, from an e-mail I sent to everybody on the Vent's mailing list:
(and thanks to the SPS for your induldgence.)

Dear Friends of the Vent:
Sadly, today was my last on Supersport 930. The station's ownership has decided to go a different direction with regard to content. Specifically, the Eubanks are looking for a little more "family friendly" programming first thing in the morning, and as you all can imagine, the Vent's often over-the-top approach doesn't exactly jibe with that.
On that, a word or two. First, while it pains me that I won't be on the air here anymore, I completely respect the decision of Bill and Bryan Eubank in that regard. It's their station, and their decision. Additionally, I'll always be grateful to them for the opportunity. I had the time of my life these last 50 weeks -- almost a year! -- on the air. And, candidly, aside from my own father, those two are the finest Christian men I've ever met. My life is better for having known them.
And people, I had an absolute ball.
My hope is to surface on the air in this market sometime soon.
A quick note: I had already committed to doing a remote with Ben this afternoon at Poets in the Quarter. (Please come by, by the way.) Do me a personal favor, and don't call Ben's show and mention this e-mail, be it in a "Good Riddance" or "Say it ain't so" context. It's Ben's show, and I don't want it to be about me. I'll be doing the last hour of it by myself (5-6 p.m.) and will probably say a quick, informal goodbye in the program's last couple minutes. But please, please: respect this last request.
Oh, and Ben: I wouldn't have had this gig if it weren't for you. So, thanks, pal.
And as lame as this might sound, it's God's truth: Zach, buddy, I'm most torn up about not working with you anymore. I miss you already, man.
Thanks folks. I hope y'all will hear from me soon.
Your friend,
Kevin
