Reading Steve Gorman (Black Crowes drummer) book about the band and how the Robinson brothers fought all the time. So, which pair of brothers hold the crown for most dysfunctional:

A. Chris and Rich Robinson, The Black Crowes
B. Liam and Noel Gallagher, Oasis
C. Ray and Dave Davies, The Kinks

Don't think Eddie and Alex Van Halen had too many problems so I didn't include them. Others?

I was thinking of adding Fogertys to the list but not sure they ever came to blows like the other 3 sets. I could be wrong, though.

Gorman? Does he still do a radio show? On sports I think.

a better question would be, are there any who actually get along? I can't think of a brother duo that didn;t fight like dogs. Maybe Alex and Eddie...

The Van Halen brothers has always seemed like a solid partnership. With all of the turmoil and member turnover Van Halen has seen, the brothers have been the only consistent part of that group. Alex always seems to have Eddie's back when he is warring with Dave or Sammy or Michael Anthony.

The Family Style album by Stevie Ray and Jimmy is a dang good record. I lived in Dallas in the early 80's and was in the music business, owned a small record store and knew a lot of the club managers in the city. Stevie had left David Bowie's band and had just released his Texas Flood album and was doing an album release party at a club called the Agora. I was invited and was able to meet both SRV and his brother. SRV was such a down to earth dude, Jimmy being older was kind of standoffish. Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, SRV's bass player and drummer were there as well. What a night that turned out to be..I was devastated when I heard the news that SRV was killed in a helicopter crash. He died much too young, was just getting sober and had so much more music in him..all I could think about when I heard the news was sitting at a table late in the night doing a couple of lines with SRV and smoking a fatty with him.

Van Halen's former road manager wrote that Alex was a drunk and a bully. He got Eddie to go along with whatever he wanted. That included making Michael Anthony (bassist) just an employee of the brothers once DLR left the band. They also took away his rights to any album, merchandise or concert sales. He just got a salary. Pretty much a dick move. But you are right that the brothers got along ok.

The Oasis boys for sure.

"It is with some sadness and great relief...I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

The Chemical Brothers. They aren’t actually brothers, they get along just fine, and they don’t play R&R. But their “music” is dysfunctional...so they deserve to be in contention.
