I am really looking forward to seeing several of our new signees take the field, but I really think Devon Bell could be the guy that helps us the most immediately. Last year I felt like our kickoff team cost us 3-10 pts a game bc our opponents only had to go 25-30 yds for a field goal or 60 yds for a TD. If this kid can come in and immediately put it in the end zone, that will make it really tough for teams to drive 80 yds on what should be a tough defense. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Can Quay do the Electric Boogaloo?<div>
</div><div>I'm going to go with Siddoway though. If he can play LT we can switch Clausell to RT. We can then totally rebuild our OL to have a full 2 deep with some guys who have experience.</div>

he kicks it through the end-zone. .. last year i usually just hoped we kicked it to the end zone, but this guy kicks it deep into, and even through, the end-zone.

If we can get great pressure, Banks and Broomfield will have big years.

I was really just referring to the most immediate impact Game 1. I would have to say on paper....Autry, Siddoway, and Bell and maybe a few others will start immediately. Who else could draw a Game 1 start?

Autry will give us a chance against the more pass-happy teams on our schedule. The absense of Big Pern REALLY reared it's ugly head in the Auburn and Arkansas games this past year. Autry helps our odds tremendously against the Arkansas, Tennessee, and Auburn pass attacks. Our d-line skill and depth is beginning to really put us in a position to compete with the top of the conference on the defensive front. On the defensive side period, really. We finished last year roughly identical to 2010 in scoring d, and we had a GLARING hole at rush end... had we adequately filled that position previously, we would've been close to a top 10 defense(finished #16 in scoring d). Are we confident that we have a rush end for post-Autry? This was one reason I hated to miss on Channing Ward...but one of our other signees may fill the role, I'm not sure.

We need more...ALOT MORE...out of the offensive line. Gabe Jackson is a sure thing at this point. On his current path, he'll be a first or 2nd rounder(projects as the #6OG in the 2014 draft). From there, we need 4 of the following to be solid: Siddoway, Holley, Robinson, Day, Clausell, Trapp, Hardy...assuming that one of the rs fr don't step up, and I don't expect them to. I still firmly believe that it takes 90% of o-linemen 3 years out of HS to be truly ready to contribute, which basically says that we should have a bunch of new bodies ready to contribute this year....

former msu kicker john michael marlin kicked it through the endzone at tupelo hs too....i saw him kick a 60 yarder called back on holding but when he got to state for some reason he was a totally different kicker, for the worse.

GOD bless

Well, high school kids are kicking off from the 40, so they're never going to look as good in college as they did in high school. Those 5 yards make a big difference, but he still should be able to send plenty at least into the endzone.

and the high school tee is higher as well. Egan was also kicking it out of the end zone in high school. You always have to wait and see with kickers.
