Sorry if Germans, but when MSU is the most "important/significant" bowl in ANY program's history, then it sounds respectful. EVEN coming from Rice. Don't tip toe down to Memphis, Dawgs. You better be ready to punch them in the mouth. Sounds like Rice wants this and they want it BAD.

I'd say the 6 Cotton/Orange/Sugar bowls they played in from 1938 - 1961 were a little more significant than this one. But yeah, this is pretty easily their biggest bowl since then.

True, Northwestern showed how dangerous a team can be when we take them lightly. We could be fighting back the whole game never gaining any momentum.

"Loosing against Troy was unfortunate...". So is his spelling of "loosing". Obviously been reading too much Sixpack. Hey...I'm smarter than a Rice guy!

"Not even close. 1954 Cotton Bowl. Rice 28 Alabama 6. We used to play in big bowls, people."

Someone needs to remind them of our National Championship.

I never thought we took Northwestern lightly. I just thought we weren't mentally ready to play in a bowl game after the second half of the season collapse. I don't feel that way with this bowl. I think we'll be ready to play, physically and mentally.

Well, that statement came from one dude (or dudette) so it's not really their AD or corch making it. But maybe more of them think that way. Who knows.

Well, looking at common opponents there is just one. Rice lost to TAM 52-31 in their opener and we lost to the aggies 51-41 in mid-season both in college park. But then, in late nov it took OT for the owls to dispatch a horrendous UAB team. Given a healthy Dak I'd say 'Hates Dicky Scruggs' should beat 'Dicky Moegle' by at least two touchdowns.

If I recall correctly, A&M had multiple players suspended for that game or at least a portion of it, including JM.
