Armstrong high School. In division 3
William Byrd went from 1-9 last year to 12-2 this year and State-semifinal appearance.
Lancaster had only won 5 games in the last 5 years combined and went 7-5 this year and won a playoff game. Also Altavista was 1-9 last year and made the state semifinals this year
Can’t see a more improved team in the state than Granby in Norfolk. Coming into this season they won a total of 4 games in 5 seasons with 3 winless seasons. They went 7-4 and went to the playoffs this season.
Granby scored 13 points the entire 2022 season. They averaged 27.8 points a game in 2023. That has to be historic.

Lancaster brought in a new coach who actually got the athletes out for the team. Obviously when you win State championships in basketball and track, there's athletes in the school. They just hadn't been coming out. The head coach is also the son of former Washington Redskin great, Kurt Gouveia and I'm sure having a coach whose father was a longtime NFL player helps a lot too.
