Pretty interesting thread......hated Springsteen until I listened to acoustic version of "No Surrender". The original version on "Born in the USA", I didn't like. The acoustic version I thought was great. At this time, he put out "Ghost of Tom Joad", I purchased it and then saw him at The Palace and was a fan. I can't stand his political views but as a musician and a performer, I really enjoy listening to him, but couldn't stand him during the 80's when I was in HS (graduated in '86). Also wasn't a fan of U2 until "Achtung Baby" -- really good album. Wasn't a fan of Pearl Jam until "Vitalogy", not the biggest fan but a few of their songs are great. Also Eddie's interview Steve Gleason was pretty awesome.
Kanye West -- terrible, don't get it at all. His interview years ago with Barbara Walters and he started rapping about her -- he thought he was awesome and it was hard for me to watch it. Just don't get it.
Rush -- don't get it. Have lots of friends that love them, but I don't get it.
Eagles -- not a big fan, but just watch their documentary and like them a little better. Funny, they didn't think their songs would last.
Today's country music -- can not listen to it at all.
In reading replies, it appears that there are categories people fall into --- people who enjoy lyrics -- Bruce, Neil, Dylan, etc. People who enjoy to sing along with catchy tunes -- Eagles, Journey, etc.
I also think the older you get, your music taste change. Really can't imagine that my kids will listen to the crap they listen to today, 25 years from now.
