6 inches from a bowl and 0.1 seconds from the NCAA tournament. What's next? A walk off grandslam to put us out of Hoover? A long fly ball to left field that ricochets off the left side of the pole with 1 runner on and down 1-0 in the ninth?

I know I dogged the NIT last week but I hope our team comes out and brings the pain to J-State and hopefully North Carolina.

given the circumstances of what was on the line, (SEC championship, what turnedout to bean NCAA bid) and then just the way we lost it. Doesn't get any worse than that.

New coach with national championship pedigree, and the LSU loss at the end....

RENARDO.....can he play, can he not.....hell, we landed him right? SEC WEST Champs, beat ole miss twice........two OT losses to UK, snubbed by NCAA while we are as good if not better than almost half the teams in the field.....Sidney not eligible....

Baseball:......highly ranked recruiting class, and they are sucking hind tit....

the lsu and uk losses are bone chilling painful.....this is by far my overall worst year as a state fan.

Football: The Croom error is well underway. We start 2-1 and drop 8 straight before a nice win over a terrible, Orgeron-coached Ole Miss team. We get shutout twice.

Basketball: L-Rob, big feces, Shane Power, Winsome Frazier, and Gary Ervin are distant memories as the Delk twins, Vernon Goodridge, Bernard Rimmer, Wesley Morgan, and Piotr Stelmach underperform. Rhodes and Gordon are the highlights of the season and they are less than stellar. Gordon's Assist/TO ratio is about as bad as it can get. Snubbed by Monta Ellis too prior to the season.

We are not competitive in either sport, really.

Baseball: This is the year we finish 9th and miss Hoover but still get to a regional and lose to Clempson and Elon.

All the highs and lows makes me a little woozy. Anyone else ever notice that most of our really bad lows this year has been to teams that have some type of feline as their mascot?
Auburn Tigers
LSU Tigers
Kentucky Wildcats
NELA Lions

Oh how I hate a damn cat!

DerHntr, you reached way back in the archives to find that aerial shot of Scott field. Looks like early to mid 90's

I always thought that if we could stomach the disappointments (esp. with Mullen and Cohen) that were sure to come (think about the shapes these programs were in), we'd be OK. We all got so excited with those hires, I figured the sure lows would get people up in arms, rollercoaster rides always do. Now we've somewhat weathered some of that, but it's not all in the rear view mirror yet.

Hopefully we see some payoffs this year. If not then, surely we will by the next. But I'm convinced truly great times are ahead for MSU sports. We may not see a Final Four or a Sugar Bowl, but consistent winning will be there I think.

More likely would be a 2-out popup in the 9th that we drop instead of catch - leading to a blown save and no post season play.
