I think he is a highflyer and extremely athletic.
Just like Houston, tallest starter is 6'7" out rebounded a Duke team with 7 footers and such. Charles Barkley dominated Sam Bowie and Mel Turpin on the glass, Barkley 6'5". The fight in the dog matters way more than the dog in the fight.
I like the part where there's a realistic chance we return all the following guys for 2026-2027:

Contributed in all games against us and was a definite reason why we lost those games against Alabama. His motor, scoring and rebounding was a killer.

None of that really matters in this age of college basketball. You should always just assume dudes are playing at your school for one year and be surprised when they stay. UK fans are used to this from the Cal era of freshmen, but now it applies to all!
Add Alvaro Folgueiras and Perrier and that looks like a final four quality team to me. Great pickup with Dioubate.

6 rebounds per 16 minutes. That's 0.38 rebounds per minute.
For context, Amari Williams rebounded at a slightly less clip of 0.37 rebounds per minute.
This kid could become our poor-man's Dennis Rodman next season.

If this is the holding pattern. Then let's keep this holding pattern. Cause Kam, Lowe, and mo isn't a bad haul so far.
I said in a thread this weekend I'm not worried with who we sign, I care a lot more about who we return each year. Looking at some of the mid-ranked portal guys who became elite players on Final Four teams this year, and seeing how Pope developed some guys this year, just give me continuity and key returning pieces and I'll be optimistic each year.
That is a beautiful site. We won't even have to waste time/money in the portal, just pay everyone to return.
Player retention seems to be the goal here. Something we severely need. Especially if we want to change the culture.

Do not think Johnson will be here for a year 2. The rest is good to me. Heck you only have to pick up a few guys that year if it works out that way. Love to see that happen. Would love to see JJ here for year 2 as well.

It is easier to keep most of them return
You can not guarantee 100% will return, but 80% return is still good for continuity
Plus, he has a ton of potential, offensively and defensively. He's an extremely good perimeter shooter, has potential for elite-level defensive play, and is still developing physically. Most importantly, he allows Oweh to do what he does best - guard smaller wing players. Dioubate will get the taller difficult wing forward matchups defensively. He and Kam Williams give Kentucky so many versatile pieces defensively.
This is the type of combo forward UConn and Duke would have loved to have picked up.
Instead, we got him coming to Lexington!
