Forgive me if this has been done, but have not seen it on here. ESPN did the Mount Rushmore of Sports....who would be on the Mount Rushmore of Mississippi?? Just of the top of my head, I would put:
1.Jerry Rice
2.Walter Payton
3. Brett Favre
4. Bailey Howell
Thoughts???</p>

I think the topic has been covered but I agree that Howell should be on there. I think easily the best basketball player in the history of this state deserves it. If he is good enough for the United State's Hall of Fame then he is good enough for our Mount Rushmore.

but you're right. They did however do a football only one, cause people on here were nominating Polk, etc, and HD got flustered.

college and then did one for all sports for each state. The all sports for each state is ******** though becasue it favors states w/ a lot of pro teams. For example, MJ on Illinois (he was from NC).

Favre, Archie, Walter Payton, & Jerry Rice. There were people considered from other sports like Polk, Will Clark, Dampier, Dizzy Dean - but I guess it's hard to argue against those four guys as being the top sports figures from MS.

Howell maybe, but no way Dampier deserved to be there. Lindsey Hunter and Antonio McDyess are both more deserving than Dampier. It's tough to leave Dizzy and Cool Papa Bell off, but I agree that it would be difficult to replace any of the 4 who made the cut.

four.........BY FAR...........Hell, he's not even in the hof..........Just because you fathered two great qb's doesn't get you in hof. Yes, he was a great cfb qb but he has some of the worst all time numbers of any starting nfl qb. Oh wait, go ahead and give me the "he played on some horrible teams ********".................
