Chase didn't even beat West by 40, and Chase would beat North by the same. lol.
IMO, West is going to surprise some folks in conference play when they finally get their QB back and can send their backup QB back to receiver. In theory, they've been playing without their 2 best offensive players. Kachillo, their QB, has been working with Jonathan Crompton all summer and throughout the season, and their backup QB/leading receiver is Truitt Manuel who is committed to NC State. They've got the athletes but Kachillo has yet to play this season, and Truitt has yet to play receiver. This was a combination that beat Crest and AC Reynolds in a summer 7v7.
Truitt Manuel is a NC State commitment to play baseball as a pitcher. There’s a big difference in being a football recruit and being a baseball recruit when you’re discussing football.
The point was he was a pure athlete. When you commit to a team coming off a World Series appearance, and haven’t stepped onto the field as a sophomore yet, you’re probably pretty damn good at everything you do.
Anyway, right on cue, a healthy West with QB back and nobody in quarantine, is heading into the 4th leading East 41-7.
West was 0-4 and left for dead, many not even picking them to win this game let alone dominate in a fashion that nearly mirrors Franklin last week. It’s not about crowing, more to say that many of us who saw otherwise during the off-season, expected this if they were to get healthy. Not sure what this will translate into going forward, but I think West can be a much tougher out from here on out.
1) That may have been your point but the fact is signing a baseball scholarship means he’s really good at throwing a baseball, it doesn’t mean anything about football in the really real world.
2) East has lost 55-8, 48-0, 41-7, and are down 42-0 tonight against Brevard. That dominating performance over East had more to do with East than the sudden emergence of West, who came back to reality against Smokey tonight.
It won’t get better for West next week either.
