A wild animal played no role in the deaths of three horses killed in Monroe County over the Labor Day weekend, investigators with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources concluded.

Local law enforcement officials requested an assessment from Kentucky Fish and Wildlife after a landowner discovered three of his horses mutilated. The landowner reported the incident the morning of Sept. 2.

Investigators reached their conclusion after a careful evaluation of the wounds and the scene. A husky (dog) found dead nearby suffered no visible wounds.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife limited its role to determining whether a large predator was involved in the deaths of the animals. State wildlife officials did not request a necropsy to determine the cause of the deaths since it appears that wildlife was not involved.

It wasn’t ate on like that over night. A couple days? Yeah no doubt. No gun did that my hickness leads me to believe those are claw marks especially on the less damaged side of the horse

Any of us who has deer hunted enough has shot a deer in the evening, had to leave it over night, and came back in the morning to find nothing but bones, Hyde and a head. You're not a very good hick.

Question for you mt lion guys, the full grown Husky was killed and had zero visible wounds. How does a mt lion kill a husky without leaving any signs?
Did he roofie the Husky?[laughing]

So what's your theory, the Husky had a heart attack? Lol, idiot.

Fish & Wildlife is an incompetent and corrupt outfit, as has been demonstrated over and over throughout the years. (again, for real country people who are actually know them and what they do -- which isn't silver spooned trust fund baby Prospect Country Clubbers like yourself)

I know bbdk is trolling, but I'm still chuckling at him saying he knows KyDFW. He called a deer stand a " deer blind" one time when i texted him at 4:30 am one morning from my tree stand. Yeah, a regular Fred Bear that guy is. Lol

I'm pretty sure there are mountain lions in Kentucky. I just don't think this is the work of one. Maybe the dead of winter when food is scarce but not right now when there is an abundance of smaller, younger and dumber prey.

Lol, false.

You can hunt every legal weekend for the next 20 years and not equal the amount of time I've spent hanging, scouting, and hunting. I'm sure your guided trips are fun tho.

They released the cats into the wild. Of course they don’t want to take the blame for some of their doings

KyDFW is saying the throats of the animals were slit. Looks like human involvement.
They interviewed a biologist from out west, he said zero chance it was a cat, cats leave all kinds of deep claw marks. They can't use their mouth unless they are holding on to the animal with their claws. Zero claw marks were found.

But I'm arguing with somebody that thinks KyDFW stocked my lions. :joy:

My dad is the CJE down there. He’ll back the sheriff 100%, but remains skeptical.

His words: there are plenty of crazy *** people down here. BUT, that track in the mud makes it impossible to completely dismiss.

It’s late and I’m tired or I would link the latest interview. If anyone wants to check it out just search channel 5 news Nashville. Couple of alleged trail cam photos the sheriff shared.

My dad was a Federal Deputy Game Warden at Ft. Knox, Chief Game Warden for zone 3 if that means anything to anyone. His area was north of the Salt river basically. 40 years ago they started hearing reports from hunters claiming to have seen mountain lions. Then a few of the wardens reported seeing them. He saw them too. And they found tracks. Federal Fish and Wildlife guys came and took casts of the tracks, took reports etc. They told my father the official stance was there were no mountain lions in Kentucky. There were mountain lions in Kentucky unofficially, and if anyone shot one, they'd better be on deaths door from a mauling, or better yet, just dead. They take that stance because they don't want to deal with the headache of dealing with an endangered species in places where they haven't inhabited for decades, notably a large government base.

ps. there were two, a mamma and her cub.

The one going away looks like a yellow lab. It looks like folded over dog ears, not cat ears.
Those animals look like any dead deer, cow etc that dies inthe wild. They get eaten and chewed on by everything from coyotes to buzzards. The question is how did they die.
Fish and wildlife said all three were shot, no way they miss evaluate 3 animals.
The town sherrif says they weren't shot and that this was a animal attack. Someone is wrong.

I've never had to leave one overnight. When you shoot them in the right spot they don't go much further.

According to Tennessee, they have Mountain lions in the western part of the state. If they are in TN, they are in KY. Cougars will travel over 200 miles in a typical food range, and over 1000 miles in search of a mate. Monroe Co is about 100 miles from multiple confirmed sighti.gs in TN.

confirmed sightings in TN

I live in an area of the country with a known population of mountain lions.

There are news reports of sightings all the time. Nearly all of them turn out to be bobcats, not mountain lions.

It's amazing to me how infrequently they are seen here compared to how often they are seen in Kentucky.

Allegedly.

I was on Monroe Topix earlier and there are countless people who have seen the dead animals & it's BEYOND CLEAR large cats were the cause of this
mountain Lions are in Martin County, Floyd County close to Dewey Lake, and in the Hells Half Acre in Johnson County. How do I know? I’ve actually seen them and this was years ago.

Another unexplained animal death in Monroe Co, half mile away from the first scene. This time a calf was killed.

Calf was not only killed, but completely skinned. Unless the Mt lion has some skinning skills, appears the work of some methed out animal ritualist.

KyDFW has been very open when people ask the question....." Can we shoot one if we see it"?..... They have stated over and over that we don't have them, therefore they aren't protected, and you can shoot them. They have said this publicly many, many times. Anybody who says you can't shoot one isn't telling a factual story.

If this gets out to the Deliverance style inbreds I grew up around there won't be a mountain lion alive within the range of an '87 S10 with a full tank of gas.

A horse was struck by a vehicle and killed last week in Corbin. Bystandards report a mountain lion driving. This mountain lion is obviously on a statewide killing spree. That is all.

The owners have said that the fish and wildlife didn’t even take samples all they did was take pictures. No hair samples no swipes of the injuries. I don’t know what it’s going to take for some people to believe it’s a mountain lion or some sort of cougar

I still don't understand why people are talking about reports by fish and wildlife, like it f'ng matters. They LIE all the time. Their investigations are bullsht. They purposely bungle investigations and don't follow up. I know this because I've seen it happen. And in government controlled parks, wildlife services and Rangers will do everything they can to evade anything that's potentially negative. Their main priority is not to scare people and hurt the money source.

I wouldn't trust any of those services with my empty bud jar.

There's an incredible amount of disinformation being spread in this thread, and it really grinds my gears! All sorts of nonsense being spewed about this being the work of mountain lions, methed-up hilljacks, Satanists, Sasquatch, the Illuminati, aliens, Satanic Sasquatches, or an inside job by the KyDFW. Folks, the answer is simple and is staring us right in the face. Al Gore warned us about it years ago.
