Early thoughts or any predictions?

Starmount will be favored to win the Conference.

Guessing that East Wilkes, Alleghany, and West Wilkes will have a shot at 2nd place.

Wilkes Central, North Wilkes, Ashe County, Elkin?

Viewpoint As Of April

Starmount will be tough to take away the top spot from as mentioned above.

Wilkes Central is very intriguing this year. They relied on a good number of Soph a year ago and will be the biggest wild card that could rise to the upper end of the league or be hovering at the bottom. They are the hardest to gauge. Athletes are there but can they keep their heads in the correct zone throughout the year remains to be seen.

Alleghany looses some key pieces in QB and RB but still has talent to make life really hard for upper end teams each week. Developing a new QB will be the key for them this year.

East will still be top 4 although when you loose that trio of backs the were contributors on both sides of the ball it will not be easy. QB does come back which in that system is a big plus as he has developed pretty well. I don't expect it to be quite as smooth overall but they will still have a say in how this conference plays out

West is another spot I feel similar to Wilkes Central as a wild card. Very well could be that head to head matchup dictates which team finishes top 3/4 in the league between the 2. Hawks lost some playmakers that will be tough to replace but also bring back some younger guys that were solid contributors on varsity.

Elkin is rebuilding with a new coach. He is on of their own and will need a couple years I think to revamp talent and put his own spin on the program. Probably wont be ideal year 1 record wise but I think your gonna have to look past what the overall will be for the Elks this year. Get more kids out, Make gains in the weight room, Consistently compete on Friday Nights.

North Wilkes as also noted above lost a key piece to SM at WR. They do have a QB that's a good athlete and can make some plays. Idk if he has enough playmakers around him is the key as already losing one is a blow. JV wasn't much a season ago so I don't really know how much help is rising up to help replace some of the contributing SRs they lost.
