This should be a competitive conference next year as well. Starmount has only 9 seniors this year.

Just jumping back into good ole “NCPreps” to once again reiterate that “1 Player” really can make that much of a difference. Jake Hampton (my little brother) breaking his ankle in the Western semifinals in 2014 after almost 600 yards and 10 touchdowns in two games and the Robbinsville hardo’s saying he wouldn’t have mattered in the Western Finals game. Well, everyone this week gave WC a chance because LeMasters might have been out, look how the game went with him in 🤷🏼‍♂️. Who knows if Alleghany would’ve beat EW, but he definitely would’ve made a major difference.

Preach! I enjoyed watching Jake and Luke play. Athletes like those two don't come around to Sparta often.

And yall are talking about how bad WC is but now saying its because you had your all star back. Which is it?

Reading comprehension evades you, ehh? Where in my statement did I speak on WC’s worth or talent? Don’t loop in “y’all” if it isn’t applicable. I speak on facts that have proven themselves, not hypotheticals.

Seriously? If your going to be that picky about wording, im going to call you out. You literally said "everyone" gave WC a chance. Show me where I said anything about them having a chance? Ill wait.

Quit getting so uptight about the way stuff is worded. Its a message board dude. I'm not going to argue or go back and forth over this childish stuff. Have a good one.

No disrespect to the QB but I dont think he would have made much difference. We're talking a 32pt difference.
Just read about game in Alleghany paper...so our backup QB threw 3 interceptions vs east Wilkes including first two drives of the game. We also stupidly went for it on a fourth and 1 from our own 26 yard line. That's four gifts for EW right there. Y'all did shut down our run game but without a passing threat I would think that would be easier to do if you know the run is always coming or you don't have to worry about an accurate passer. Anyways that's last week and water under the bridge best of luck rest of the year...i like EWs coach he has alot of passion. Think it's going to come down to ew starmount or Murphy. Hope y'all can knock out each other and we just have to play one of y'all lol

Two weeks left in the regular season:

Alleghany at North Wilkes
East Wilkes at Elkin
Starmount at Wilkes Central
West Wilkes at Ashe

My predictions for POY:

Offense: Lemasters - Alleghany
Defense: Propst - Starmount
Specialist: Rodriguez - Starmount
Coach: Pardue - Starmount or Walker - East Wilkes or both

Greene or Bennett have to be in the COY discussion. I feel Starmount has underachieved and hasn't lived up to what they seemed they would be, even with 2 loses. Pardue could win it, but I think he could very easily find himself 3rd or 4th on the ballot.

If both win out, I give Greene or Walker the nod.

I would give the nod for COY to the guy at Alleghany. They have been the most impressive relative to expectation.

EW is about what we thought they would be and Starmount has been a worse than expected.

Why do you consider Starmount worse than expected? They did lose a lot on the offensive side of the ball including 3 offensive linemen.

QB Collins
RB Crater
WRs KJ Allen, Colton Allen, LT Adams
OL Mabry, Harlee, Cass

Defensively, they returned a lot more players and have basically done what was expected.

I think the Rams are about as expected. I didn't expect them to be as good as last year.

I thought they would be able to compete for a deep playoff run and have a chance to play for a title due to being in the 2A class. Let’s face it the Mount Airys, Mountain Heritages, Eastern Randolphs of the world moved up to 3A.

This Ram team is still young with only 9 seniors. Some of the juniors have played since freshman year and some are experiencing their first full year at varsity level.

I think a lot of people were expecting them to run the table (with a little ease) with the exception of the MA game. I also think people underestimated how good Alleghany and East Wilkes would be.

Starmount has had a rough three weeks, even though they went 2-1. It took overtime to beat Alleghany, they only beat EW 7-0 and then lost to WW. We know now that those teams aren't bad, but in normal years, they aren't the best and I think that is what is getting people down on this rams team.

All three of those teams are good and all three could win a playoff game or 2 (maybe 3)

3 of the top 4 in RPI in 2A West are the MV schools and you are correct if all are healthy could win multiple games depending on whom each draw. Looks like all 3 will get first round byes if they finish in the top 8 or so.

That's why I said "people underestimated them" and "we know now that those teams aren't bad".

I do think that all of those teams have a chance to win a few playoff games, but what I was getting at, is that most people thought Starmount would beat them with ease. Not be a single score game or even lose to one of them. Starmount isn't a bad team and if they can figure out their offense, they can be extremely dangerous come playoff time.
