Finishing Touches

March 27, 2009

Progress continues on the outer shell of Mississippi State's high definition video board at Davis Wade Stadium. Workers are closing in on the conclusion of the project (expected completion is late April), which will leave the scoreboard matching the look of the Leo Seal M-Club Center below it. The towering structure, which made its debut this past football season, will be in use once again on Thursday, April 16, when a special showing of the movie "Remember the Titans", the film based upon the true story of a high school in Virginia that faced consolidation and integration and emerged with a championship football team. Prior to that, "A Game of Change" will be shown, a film that depicts how MSU's basketball team made history in 1963, slipping out of Starkville to play in an integrated NCAA Basketball Tournament against Loyola (Chicago). The showings will be open to the public and will be free. More details will be forthcoming.

We need to start doing this once a month or so and get more than 7 uses per year out of the thing.

And, when the weather is nice, show away football games on it. Same for baseball with that 'tron.

The progress they have made on it looks really good. They have done a great job matching it up with the M-Club.

This should be a huge success. Just hope the weather holds out.
