Wells - really good and could probably be playing right now if not for our excellent depth at safety.
Carr - playing this year, not doing much
Day - high praise from coaches and other o-lineman - still one of the most impressive o-line highlight videos I have seen - looks like he is backing it up.
Lawson - haven't heard a thing.
Clausell - haven't heard much.
D. Robinson - apparently looking good, very athletic.
R. Johnson - must be doing well in practice - coaches have said that he might suit up soon.
M. Johnson - see R. Johnson.
A. Muniz - apparently looking really good.
Ruff - nothing.
Bohanna - not much - although I think Diaz said he really likes Bohanna and C. Holmes, they just need more time.
Griffin - nothing.
Lewis - haven't heard anything since his big fall camp - by all accounts he is a pretty good player, just stuck behind Bumphis/Heavens.
Love and Hughes - both looking good at cb.
Eulls - haven't heard much - one article I think Wilson was talking about him being a really good player down the line, but they are trying to figure out whether he is a better fit at end or tackle.
Virges - early reports were that he had a ton of work to do. Haven't heard anything lately. He may be a depth guy for his career, which you always need.

In sum, I think Wells, Day, Robinson, Muniz, and Lewis have been the most talked about from what I have read and heard.

I'm was looking for more of a practice report type update.

I see you're still pissed about the BP spill. Sweet.

We are about to start losing offensive linemen. This year we willose starters Brignone and Sherrod, along with backups Melichar and Freeman. Next year we lose Addison Lawrence, Saulsberry, and Looney. You never know when Tobias Smith could go down with an ankle. The pressure is on Day, Lawson, Clausell, Muniz, D. Robinson, etc. to step in and play this spring on the 2-deep. I do think Hevesy is coaching them hard. They are the group of redshirts that I think are critical to our future.

What is often overlooked, especially by MSU fans, is the value of going to a bowl game. Having the extra weeks of practice, especially for the freshman who *haven't* played, is incredibly valuable for improving a program like ours. I've always hated that non-bowl teams are essentially penalized for being bad and not given the same number of practices to improve. To me, the extra practice is second only to the exposure in terms of value from going 6-6 or better.

I absolutely agree. The extra weeks give you an opportunity to go back and work on basicfundamentals with everyone, and gives the coaches extra time to work with guys that are normally playing scout team (redshirting freshmen).

I have absolutely no basis for saying this, but I think Day will be our next Randy Thomas.
