OM whipped us on the field this year. That sucks because I hate them and I want to beat them at everything all the time. That's not possible obviously, but the dream persists.

OM whipped us on NSD this year no doubt. That sucks because see above. I hate Ole Miss. I just hate them. Starting to understand how they must have felt for the PAST 3 YEARS. And I don't like it.

But I prefer to focus on an area where I believe we are ahead of the game. Because all these threads about wanting to offer project O-lineman and hoping to sweet God that UGA rides in on Todd Grantham and lays waste to Oxford are just the kind of entertainment that will cause the Bears to take Laremy Tunsil's dick out of their mouth long enough to effeminately giggle.

What might shut them up a second, and where I think (based on zero research and soley based on a random thought because I'm lazy) we are not only ahead, but YEARS ahead is building depth/redshirting. Dan Mullen has been doing it righteously from the get-go, and being up-front with recruits about it. Remember all those studs-hosses you were fretting over this time last year? Well, because I drink too much beer and am generally forgetful, save for the major stars and the guys who played as true-freshmen, I couldn't tell you one practice squad player from the next. And these are guys who have a year with Bailis, and a year learning the system while getting their asses generally kicked.

And now they are coming up and they will play as depth and special teams while they get SEC experience. Just like the redshirt class before them. And while Laremy Tunsil is a no-doubt stud, he's a freshmen. He won't know what to do with Denico.

That said - and it was a lot - let's hear your two-deep on both sides given the guys we lose, the starters coming back, the guys who will play as true-froshes, and the guys COMING OUT OF THE SHADOWS.

Also, flame on.

First things first......

Ole Miss did not whip us today. If anything, we, again, won the battle in-state (at least until we start tossing out greyshirts n ****). They did have a higher rated class based on out of state guys, and while it looks like theirs is better, we really won't know the truth for a few years. So I'm not going to sit around and say we got 'whipped' by Ole Miss today, we didn't.

Second, all you need to know is that we are two deep on the OL, which has steadily gotten better as the 2010 guys have gotten older. Siddoway, Smith, Day, Jackson, Clausell (not sure the exact order across the line) all coming back, then Muniz, Beckwith, Holley, Robinson, Malone backing them up. Then we haven't even gotten to Knox, Carter, Senior and Desper. Bringing in 3 more solid guys this year in Flowers, Clayborn and Thomas. Didn't even mention Lawson and the other walk-ons outside Beckwith. That's a full 3 deep of solid players. Not to mention we got rid of dead weight this year in Hardy and Trapp.

To me, next year hinges on Oklahoma State and Auburn, then obviously the Egg Bowl.

I'm not going to do what you asked with the two deep because I am also lazy when it comes to doing research for message board posts. I am going to say that I agree with everything you have written.

I am already more excited about next year than I was about this year. We should be improved at every position except DB, and we have capable replacements who should be better coached. I think we wasted the talent we had in the defensive backfield last year due to poor game planning. I think the expectation is that Collins will be much more aggressive. I like that.

That said, we could have a much better team and have the record to show it due to scheduling.

I honestly and truthfully think we could have the best linebacker corp in the SEC this year. Lot of highly recruited guys, a freak sophomore in the middle, B. Brown on the edge which is an upgrade in talent from Cam (good player, just not the athlete Brown is)... No clue about two-deeps but defense is going to see a big bump.

What are you saying about our schedule? Because it looks incredibly difficult when I look at it.

Agree and Disagree

It is good that our OL is older because obviously an experienced OL is much better than an inexperienced one. But Jackson and Tobias were our best OL by far last year, and I've heard Tobias isn't coming back, and if so, Jackson is our only outstanding OL. On defense, we lose our best DL, Boyd. Cam Lawrence was important on defense, and we will really miss Banks and Slay. Remember, Mullen's first two classes (not the first croom class) were not good.
To me, it all depends on the DL. If those highly rated guys from last year pan out, then we will be fine. No great but good.
Let's face it, though, after today Mullen's chances of long term success became much, much harder. Freeze is a good coach and he showed it in the Egg Bowl when they creamed us. Today's recruiting haul is going to make it very difficult in the long term for Mullen given that unlike Orgeron, Freeze can coach.

I agree dont bash the linebackers we are by far more talented this coming year than last. We were torched by spread offenses last year because of one thing and that was linebacker play. They spread us out and picked us off on WR/LB coverages because our linebackers simply were not fast enough to cover a WR. Now bring in Richie and Beniquez with McKinney in the middle and you got guys who can fly to the ball and actually keep a WR in front of them and not let WR's get behind them as we saw alot and I mean alot this past year. With the potential the D line has as well as the talent the linebackers have along with a much upgraded safety position where I believe youll see a different nickoe whitley the only question mark is corner backs. If Deshea coaches this guys up and sures up the only question mark on defense I think its going to be hard to find a team that will score at will on us this year and a much more improved/talented team against spread offenses.

I would be shocked if we won 6 games.

Wins: Alcorn, BG, Troy, Kentucky

Losses: OSU, SC, Bama, LSU, A&M FOR SURE.

Toss Ups:
Ole Miss: They mopped the floor with us and return better players. The only reason this one is even in the toss ups column is because we get them at home.
Arkansas: Nobody has any idea how these guys will be next year. We always struggle up there.
Auburn: I believe they'll be at least better than they were this year and will be playing at home. This will be a very tough game.

So we have to win 2 of those 3 toss ups next year to go bowling, and the 2 we beat this past season will be better and playing us at home. I have Troy in the win column, but they are no pushover either. Let's also not forget the senior qb curse.

We'd better hope there's some success in baseball and that basketball recruiting goes very well.

Nah, I disagree.

We should be able to beat Auburn and Arkansas at their places. We wiped the floor with Ole Miss in 2011 too, just like they did in 2008. It matters not. It's in Starkville, we likely win. Amazing that you and other fans do not learn this critical football lessons as you age and your fandom matures. And Oklahoma State is not a team we should fear.

I also think we've got the team that can knock off a Bama or LSU at home. I agree Carolina and A&M away are losses.

QB curse changes next year, for a few reasons. 1, our experienced OL, and 2, a Sr. QB who actually can play a little ball.

Railin, the goggles that you wear must be second to none. The koolaid that you drink must have whimsical powers that can't be fathomed by mankind. You honestly need to do yourself a favor, and back away from the forest a little. Spend some time outside of the delusional bubble you live in. It would really do you wonders, my friend.

What do you disagree with? Wait, I already know the answer: Egg Bowl. Sorry, you're not changing my mind. You're not a dominant team. Pound for pound, we are probably still a step ahead of your program. At home, we will win that game, 80% sure.

This is not the 2010 Ole Miss version of MSU. There are similarities in the two programs, but we canned our DC instead of keeping him around for crootin purposes like Nutt did with Nix.

How can I reply to only one post when I disagree with all of them?

In the same thread you go from 8-4 would be amazing to we should beat Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, and possibly Alabama or LSU.

Don't see the big difference there. It will take victories over 2 of Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State to get to 6-6, which should be achievable. Then the other 2 and/or and a possible upset to get to 8-4 for a great season. Logic dictates that all those 'should' wins won't line up for us, but it's possible with a little luck.

Not a flame ...

Just a question about Bailis and his program. I just did NOT see a State team that was 'physically' prepared to play OM and NWestern, much less LSU & Bama. I'm not talking speed here at all; just control of both lines of scrimmage. Until the last years under JWS, I went to State games where we 'won' the line of scrimmage ... both sides.

Balis has had most of the OL for 2 - 3 years and some even had RS years. We lose Boyd at DL but have several that have been in Bailis' system for 2 - 3 years.

Will next year's OL & DL be better than what we witnessed last year?
